Estela Morandi: el adiós a la mujer que salvó vidas del Atentado a la AMIA

El lunes murió, de manera repentina, la mujer que estuvo 20 años al frente de la Unidad de Catástrofes del SAME; salvó vidas en los atentados a la Embajada de Israel, la AMIA, Cromañon, y la Tragedia de Once.

Tras dos décadas con el ambo verde puesto, el lunes partió la mujer que desafió a la muerte y salvó cientos de vidas en las peores tragedias que golpearon a nuestro país.

Estela Morandi murió en su casa el 13 de abril, de manera repentina. Tenía 60 años y desde hacia 20 era jefa de Catástrofes del SAME. Durante todos esos años que llevó el ambo verde participó en las tareas de rescate de los atentados a la Embajada de Israel y a la AMIA, en el despiste del avión de LAPA, en el incendio de Cromañon y en la Tragedia de Once. Sin dudas, éste último hecho es el que llevarán grabado sus compañeros de trabajo por siempre. Mientras salvaba vidas, en ese escenario, Morandi lloró, se secó las lágrimas y siguió trabajando sin parar durante doce horas; puso todos los recursos del SAME a disposición y ayudó a rescatar a más de 700 personas.

Con esa imagen, sus colegas decidieron homenajearla. La foto que ilustra esta nota, y que circula en las redes sociales, muestra a Estela asistiendo a una víctima el día del choque de trenes.

Morandi fue despedida como una heroína. Sus compañeros del SAME cortaron la calle Monasterio (donde se encuentra la sede central del servicio de emergencias), en Parque Patricios, e hicieron sonar las sirenas durante diez minutos.

Estela era médica tocoginecóloga y legista, egresada de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Fue la primera universitaria de su familia. Trabajó en hospitales públicos, en guardias y ambulancias, hasta que se inclinó por la emergentología y llegó al SAME.

“Era la no claudicación. Nunca. Era una persona a la que la definía la entrega total para todo”, señaló Alberto Crescenti, director del SAME. “En un mundo donde todos miran cada vez más para otro lado cuando pasa algo, ella ayudaba sin mirar”, agregó.
