Oficial de la policía israelí dona parte de su hígado a un niño jordano y le salva la vida

Un oficial de la policía israelí y padre de tres hijos de la ciudad norteña de Maghar ha donado parte de su hígado a un niño jordano enfermo de ocho años, del que se enteró en las redes sociales, según un informe de TPS.

Cuando Kalai Housam Tarif se enteró de Morsell Albelous, se sometió a pruebas de sangre y otras para determinar si sería un donante compatible para el niño, que Tarif dijo que le recordaba el suyo. Una vez establecida la compatibilidad, el procedimiento se realizó en el Centro Médico Infantil Schneider en Petah Tikva .

Según una explicación del sitio web del sistema de salud de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Madison, la cirugía para extirpar la porción del hígado de un donante toma aproximadamente cinco horas y el donante permanece en el hospital durante aproximadamente siete días. Por lo general, se extrae el lóbulo derecho del hígado del donante.

El hígado se divide en un lóbulo derecho e izquierdo, lo que permite al cirujano separar el hígado en dos partes distintas que pueden funcionar de forma independiente, una de las cuales fue donada al niño.

TPS informó que Tarif se unió al Servicio de Prisiones de Israel (IPS) en 2008 como guardia en la prisión de Ketziot en el sur. Luego participó en un curso de oficiales y estudió criminología. Durante el último año y medio, Tarif ha dirigido programas de capacitación para guardias de prisiones para el IPS.
