La expectación para el duelo de este lunes es máxima y se prevé que el estadio Bloomfield de Tel Aviv esté colmado por 29.000 espectadores que la semana pasada agotaron las entradas en menos de dos horas.
En la fase final de su preparación para las eliminatorias de Qatar 2022, Argentina y Uruguay llegan a Israel reforzados tras imponerse este pasado viernes contra Brasil (0-1) y Hungría (1-2) respectivamente, en unos amistosos que les dejaron buen sabor de boca.
Messi volvió a ser decisivo para Argentina, autor del gol que decidió el «Superclásico de las Américas» disputado en Riad, al recoger el rechace a un penal que él mismo había lanzado. Luis Suárez, que como su compañero del Barcelona volvía a jugar con su selección tras la Copa América, dio la asistencia que transformó Brian Rodríguez en el segundo gol celeste.
Esta misma tarde, después de haber llegado este sábado por la noche, Uruguay se entrenará en Netanya, cerca de Tel Aviv, tras lo que su seleccionador, Óscar Washington Tabárez, dará una rueda de prensa. «El Maestro» sumará contra Argentina su partido 201 al frente de la selección celeste. Nadie ha dirigido tantos partidos a un conjunto nacional.
El equipo argentino que dirige Lionel Scaloni, por su parte, aterrizará en Israel alrededor de las 20:00 hora local (18:00 GMT), tras haber entrenado esta mañana en Riad. No podrá contar el seleccionador albiceleste con Lucas Ocampos, que con molestias musculares en la pierna izquierda ha regresado a Sevilla, para ponerse en manos de los médicos de su club.
Hasta ahora, parece que ambos equipos nacionales mantendrán un perfil bajo, y no se prevén grandes eventos en su agenda hasta la hora del encuentro de este lunes.
Su paso por Israel sigue a una fuerte escalada de violencia tras el ataque del grupo terrorista palestino Jihad Islámica en Gaza, que esta semana lanzó casi quinientos cohetes hacia el territorio israelí, unos proyectiles que incluso alcanzaron el área de Tel Aviv.
El repunte de tensión puso el país en máxima alerta, y ante la situación de seguridad se puso en entredicho la celebración del partido. Sin embargo, tras un alto el fuego que entró en vigor este jueves por la mañana, la situación se ha calmado y sus organizadores insisten que el encuentro se podrá celebrar con normalidad.
Según aseguró a Comtec Group, el objetivo del partido es «promover la paz común», y en el estadio se juntarán «niños musulmanes, cristianos y judíos».
Parte de las entradas se han reservado para el Centro Peres para la Paz, la ONG fundada en 1996 por Shimón Peres, ya fallecido presidente israelí y Premio Nobel de la Paz, que llevará al partido a niños palestinos e israelíes que entrenan juntos en escuelas mixtas de fútbol.
