Apenas unos días antes de que se esperara que decenas de líderes mundiales se reunieran en Jerusalén, un grupo de globos explosivos aterrizó cerca de la capital y fueron desmantelados por expertos en eliminación de bombas de la Policía de Israel.
El incidente del lunes, en el área de Mesilat Tzion, cerca de la ciudad de Beit Shemesh, no causó daños ni lesiones y se produce después de que varios otros grupos llegaron a comunidades en el sur de Israel durante el fin de semana.
El domingo, el ejército israelí disparó un proyectil hacia un puesto de Hamas a lo largo de la valla fronteriza de Gaza en respuesta al lanzamiento de un grupo de globos explosivos que había detonado sobre la ciudad universitaria de Sderot que había sido lanzada desde el enclave costero bloqueado.
El sábado se encontró un grupo de globos incendiarios en Sderot y el viernes se encontraron varios globos con dispositivos explosivos adheridos a lo largo del paseo marítimo de Ashdod. La policía cerró las playas hasta que los zapadores desmantelaron los dispositivos para evitar el peligro para el público.
A partir del miércoles, aterrizaran en Israel los líderes de 46 países para participar en el Foro Internacional de Líderes en Conmemoración del Día Internacional de Recordación del Holocausto y la Lucha contra el Antisemitismo que se llevará a cabo el próximo 23 de enero en Jerusalén.
