Entonces llegó el coronavirus, interrumpiéndolo todo: «Se suponía que él llegaría para Pesaj, la semana pasada, por tres semanas, y ahora no se sabe qué va a pasar», dice Maor, y señala lo difícil de la situación: «La posibilidad de un encuentro transatlántico parece hoy una pesadilla que no sé cuándo va a terminar».
–¿Qué es lo que más te molesta de la situación?
–La falta de certezas, no saber cuándo voy a poder volver a abrazarlo y besarlo. ¡Todo es apocalíptico!
–¿Y cómo lidias con eso?
–Tratamos de mantener el optimismo y el amor a la distancia. Hablamos mucho más por teléfono y compartimos la esperanza de que esta situación se va a terminar. En un segundo nuestra relación se convirtió en una telenovela.
–¿Esto también fortalece la relación?
–Por supuesto. Nos conocemos de otra manera, entendemos cuánto nos amamos incluso sin la presencia física del otro, y nos mantenemos lealtad. Los decretos acerca del ingreso de extranjeros tanto acá como en Argentina son muy poco claros. Me hubiese gustado ir para allá, o que él viniera para acá, o reunirnos a mitad de camino y aislarnos juntos.
–¿Qué planes tienen a futuro?
–Nos prometimos que incluso si esto demora un año o más, vamos a esperar al momento en que podamos reencontrarnos y demostrarnos nuestro amor. Creo que es una relación que no se encuentra todos los días, así que no me voy a rendir tan fácil.
«La incertidumbre es muy frustrante y causa aún más anhelo»
En una situación similar están Gin Gora (31) de Tel Aviv y su compañero Will Cooper (25) de Inglaterra. Se conocieron a través de Instagram hace dos años y en octubre pasado se casaron en Dinamarca. –Interrumpió nuestros planes. En general nos encontramos cada cierta cantidad de meses en algún destino diferente de Europa, y solemos tener pasajes por casi un año por delante. Desde que empezó la cuestión del coronavirus comenzaron a cerrar fronteras. Pensábamos encontrarnos para Pesaj, pero la situación está empeorando.
–Preocupante.
–¡Sí, muy! Sobre todo porque no se sabe cuándo va a volver todo a la normalidad y podremos encontrarnos nuevamente. La incertidumbre es muy frustrante y causa aún más anhelo. Eso sin mencionar el daño económico. ¿Nos vamos a poder permitir la misma frecuencia de viajes? ¿O vamos a tener que reducirla?
–¿Cómo mantienen, a pesar de todo, el optimismo?
–Tenemos un canal de YouTube en conjunto que se llama “Jenn and Will”, en el que principalmente registramos nuestros viajes. Así que aunque no podemos encontrarnos en este momento, vemos los videos, recordamos momentos especiales que pasamos y sentimos que estamos juntos.
–¿Qué consejo les darías a parejas que están en una situación similar?
–En primer lugar que no se asusten. La situación no es decisión nuestra y entrar en pánico o ser exagerado no va a ayudar. Las relaciones a distancia no son sencillas, pero si se quieren, nada los va a detener. Confiar el uno en el otro es muy importante. Y si uno logra sobrellevar una situación así y superarla, significa que la relación es sólida.
–¿Qué van a hacer cuando toda esta historia quede atrás?
–¡Subirnos al vuelo más barato y reencontrarnos!
