Se espera una gran ola de aliá (inmigración) a Israel a raíz del coronavirus, además de un importante número de israelíes que residen en el extranjero y desean regresar al país.
Funcionarios del Ministerio de Absorción de Israel informan que en las últimas semanas no menos de 60.000 israelíes que viven en el extranjero han expresado su interés en regresar a casa pronto. “Hay un despertar entre los israelíes que viven en el extranjero”, dijeron los funcionarios.
El presidente de la Agencia Judía, Isaac Herzog, afirmó que anticipaba “una gran ola de inmigración a Israel cuando termine la crisis del coronavirus, como ha sucedido históricamente en las comunidades judías de todo el mundo después de muchas crisis desde el establecimiento del estado”.
Herzog pidió al gobierno israelí y a otras partes que se preparen lo antes posible para una ola de aliá, y que elaboren un plan bien organizado para un esfuerzo de absorción masiva para los nuevos inmigrantes.
“La crisis del coronavirus está paralizando el establecimiento de las comunidades judías, y la Agencia Judía está haciendo todo lo posible para ayudar a las comunidades necesitadas a través de los emisarios en el campo y también a través de un fondo de préstamo especial que hemos establecido con Keren Hayesod y JFNA para ayudar financieramente”, manifestó Herzog, quien agregó: “Estas comunidades consideran el funcionamiento de Israel en la lucha contra el virus en medio de una crisis global, y ven un estado robusto y relativamente funcional. Y recibo muchas reacciones de todo el mundo”.
Avi Gershinsky, vicepresidente del grupo de aliá y absorción Nefesh B’Nefesh, aseveró: “Ha habido movimiento en las comunidades judías desde el estallido de la crisis del coronavirus, y el tema de la aliá ha sido contemplado por muchos. Solo en abril se presentaron alrededor de 300 formularios de aliá a las oficinas de Nefesh B’Nefesh, y más de 400 personas han comenzado el proceso de aliá. Estamos preparados para todos los escenarios posibles y podemos acompañar a todos los interesados: decenas, cientos y miles“.
El interés en la aliá a Israel se ha registrado en comunidades judías, donde el número de judíos que murieron por el coronavirus es alto. En el Reino Unido, por ejemplo, alrededor de 500 personas expresaron interés en la aliá durante el último mes. Normalmente, el número promedio anual de olim de aquel país es de solo 700.
En Francia, alrededor de mil familias esperan emigrar a Israel. En la antigua Unión Soviética, este año se abrieron archivos de aliá para 40.000 judíos locales y sus parientes cercanos, incluso antes del estallido de la pandemia. Ahora, los funcionarios de aliá esperan aún más casos.
En 2019, alrededor de 35,000 personas emigraron a Israel, lo que estableció un récord para toda la década. Fuentes de Aliá dicen que llegarán hasta 40.000 para fines de 2020, sin incluir a los 60.000 israelíes que regresan.
“Si estos datos son correctos, alrededor de 100.000 israelíes y judíos de todo el mundo pueden llegar a Israel el próximo año”, creen los mismos funcionarios.
