El 5 de octubre de 1935, se fundó la Delegación de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas como la entidad representativa de la comunidad judía argentina.

Se conformó con la unión de 28 organizaciones, garantizando entonces una representación amplia de casi todas las expresiones judías del país.

El primer presidente fue Alberto Klein. El actual es el Dr. Jorge Knoblovits, quien manifestó sus sensaciones en esta columna para Vis á Vis en el 85 aniversario que se cumple este lunes.

«Desde hace 85 años, paso a paso y a fuerza de mucho trabajo, compromiso y responsabilidad, la DAIA se fue erigiendo no solo como la entidad central de la comunidad judía argentina sino también en una institución reconocida y valorada por toda la sociedad.

En este día, donde celebramos un nuevo aniversario, es importante resaltar que la DAIA tiene una misión a la que nunca renunciará. Es la de combatir y vencer los prejuicios que aún permanecen en ciertos sectores de nuestro país y que derivan, muchas veces, en actos discriminatorios y violentos.

Como protagonista de la vida política, social y cultural argentina, nuestra entidad atravesó momentos de gran turbulencia. Nos han dejado enseñanzas profundas sobre lo importante que es para quienes pretenden conducir esta institución, prepararse y actuar con extrema sensibilidad. Sin que los paralice el miedo a la hora de defender a quienes se les vulneran sus derechos.
Conscientes de esta responsabilidad, cuando esta Comisión Directiva asumió hace casi dos años se propuso seguir en el camino de nuestros fundadores. Seguir adaptando a la DAIA a los nuevos desafíos que se presentan en este siglo XXI.

En la DAIA siempre reflexionamos sobre el rol que estamos cumpliendo como entidad. Qué estamos haciendo en nuestro día a día para construir una sociedad en la que el Otro vuelva a ser lo más importante.
En ese sentido, y teniendo muy en claro que desde se fundó la DAIA, viene cumpliendo un rol central en Argentina en materia de lucha contra el antisemitismo. También, en los últimos años hemos detectado como los mensajes de odio y discriminatorios que afectan también a otros Colectivos no solo ganaban espacios en los medios de comunicación y en las redes sociales, sino también en el debate público. No tenemos dudas: hoy los mensajes de odio se han transformado en la muestra más perturbadora del desprecio hacia el prójimo. Buscan arrinconarlo y segregarlo.

Por eso, en la DAIA comprendimos que además de representar con profesionalismo y transparencia a toda la comunidad judía argentina teníamos la obligación moral de trabajar intensamente y más que nunca para defender a cualquier Colectivo que se sienta discriminado.

Hoy puedo decir con orgullo que lo estamos haciendo. La ampliación de derechos se convirtió en un faro que en estos años ha guiado el accionar de esta institución.

Al tener bien en claro cuáles son los desafíos que se nos presentan en el presente, decidimos actuar para ampliar nuestra misión. Empezar a recorrer el camino para transformarnos en una institución que defiende los Derechos Humanos.

De esta manera, nuestra voz sigue siendo potente y clara. No solo para denunciar a los que se atrevan a seguir expandiendo mensajes judeofóbicos sino también para combatir a quienes manifiestan su odio criminalizando a cualquier otro Colectivo que conforman nuestro país.
El mejor homenaje que le podemos hacer hoy a todos los hombres y mujeres que pasaron por esta institución en estos 85 años, es redoblar el esfuerzo para que todos los argentinos retomemos los caminos del entendimiento y del diálogo.
En lo personal, mi experiencia al frente de esta institución de la sociedad civil, me ha permitido tomar conciencia de lo mucho que podemos hacer para ayudar a construir una sociedad más justa, pacifica e inclusiva. Que permita dejar de lado para siempre los discursos de odio que profundiza una grieta que cada vez separa más a los argentinos».
