Básicamente, los Juicios de Núremberg fueron un conjunto de procesos jurisdiccionales emprendidos por iniciativa de las naciones aliadas vencedoras al final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Allí se determinaron y sancionaron las responsabilidades de dirigentes, funcionarios y colaboradores del régimen de Adolf Hitler.
En una nueva película de la galardonada cineasta Jenny Ash, se examinan los juicios de Nuremberg y su legado. También se muestran escalofriantes imágenes originales de los procedimientos judiciales en el primer juicio de 21 importantes nazis. Incluye, entre otros, a Herman Göring, Hans Frank y Julius Streicher.
Y Benjamin Ferencz está presente en la película para informar sobre algunos de los espantosos paisajes que vio mientras recopilaba pruebas.
Hoy, desde su casa en Miami, Ferencz deja en claro que los recuerdos de los juicios de Núremberg siguen tan nítidos como cuando visitaba los campos de concentración abandonados a fines de la primavera y el verano de 1945, después de que terminó la guerra.
En la película dice: «Hasta entonces, ni siquiera conocíamos el término ‘campo de concentración’, no teníamos ni idea. El impacto de mi primera visita fue indescriptible. Había cuerpos amontonados como leños».
