Un político de Italia de extrema derecha llamó a la sobreviviente del Holocausto, Lilliana Segre, por el número que le tatuaron los nazis.

«Todo lo que faltaba [en el debate sobre la vacuna] era ella, 75190», dijo Fabio Meroni, legislador del partido Lega Nord.

Luego, la publicación fue eliminada tras el repudio del partido de centro izquierda, Partito Democrático, que además exigieron una disculpa para Segre.

«Las consideraciones vulgares de quienes, como el concejal Fabio Meroni, equiparan las vacunas con el fascismo nazi, ofenden a todas las personas con conciencia histórica y sentido de humanidad», expresaron en un comunicado.

Meroni pareció al principio imperturbable por la reacción y continuó expresando su insatisfacción con la afirmación de Segre de que las vacunas eran «la única forma de salir de la pandemia». A su vez, agregó que «ella no es médico» y que se refirió al número en lugar de su nombre «para evitar la expulsión de Facebook «.

Sin embargo, a medida que el escándalo se intensificó, el político de Italia ofreció una disculpa formal a la sobreviviente del Holocausto. Manifestó que «en este clima de odio, desafortunadamente, yo también me involucré y traté de expresar mis pensamientos de una manera totalmente incorrecta».

Walker Meghnagi, presidente de la comunidad judía de Milán, calificó su ataque de «intolerable».

De todas formas, no fue el único en repudiar, ya que la reprimenda más severa provino de Roberto Cenati, presidente de la sucursal de Milán de ANPI, la Asociación Nacional de Partisanos Italianos.

«Meroni usó el mismo lenguaje con el que los nazis negaron la personalidad de quienes terminaron en Auschwitz por la única culpa de nacer», aseguró.

Esta no es la primera vez que hay ataques antisemitas contra Segre. El año pasado quedó bajo protección policial tras recibir una avalancha de abusos, incluso amenazas de muerte. ¿El motivo? La convocaron a una comisión parlamentaria para estudiar y luchar las formas de antisemitismo, racismo, incitación al odio y violencia por motivos étnicos y religiosos.

Segre se convirtió en senadora vitalicia en 2018 en honor a sus años de hablar y difundir la verdad sobre las atrocidades del Holocausto.
