La comunidad haredí de Israel está comenzando a integrar el uso de Internet en su vida cotidiana.
Según muestra el índice 2021 del Instituto de Democracia de Israel. El índice de la IDI, el sexto informe estadístico anual sobre la comunidad haredí.
Según la IDI, casi dos tercios (64%) de todas las personas haredi en Israel utilizaron Internet el año pasado.
Si bien este número sigue siendo bajo en comparación con el 93% de todos los judíos israelíes, representa un aumento meteórico durante la última década.
Sin embargo, el uso de Internet por parte de los haredíes parece ser mucho más funcional que social o recreativo.

‘La sociedad ultraortodoxa está dividida actualmente en tres grupos principales cuando se trata de Internet’, dijeron el Dr. Lee Cahaner y el Dr. Gilad Malach.
‘El primero tiende a ignorar la innovación digital y el segundo, pragmático, reconoce la necesidad de utilizar Internet’ afirmaron los expertos.
El índice de la IDI también reveló que la población haredí en Israel se sitúa en alrededor de 1.226.000, el 13% de la población israelí total en 2021.
