La Torá, en el texto que se lee el primer y segundo día de Sucot detalla las leyes de los Moadím (festividades), incluyendo los preceptos de morar en una Sucá (cabaña techada con hojas y ramas) y tomar las «Cuatro Especies» en de Sucot; las ofrendas traídas al Beit HaMikdash (Templo en Jerusalén) durante esta festividad y la obligación de las tres perigrinaciones anuales al Beit HaMikdash: Pesaj, Shavuot y Sucot, para «ver y ser vistos frente a Di-s».
La lectura correspondiente al Shabat de Jol Amoed Sucot corresponde al texto en el el Creador ordena a Moshé la construcción de las segundas Tablas, idénticas a las que había quebrado, y volver a subir al Har Sinaí (Monte Sinaí). También la rden del Creador de observar los Shalosh Regalim (tres fiestas de peregrinaje)
La lectura del Maftir corresponde al texto que ordena la festividad, mientras que el que se lee los días de Jol Amoed indican los sacrificios que debían realizarse durante los días de Sucot.
