Este martes, el embajador de Israel ante las Naciones Unidas (ONU), Gilad Erdan, en colaboración con Aish Global, organizó un Seder de Pesaj en las Naciones Unidas. Participaron 70 embajadores de todo el mundo. Se sirvieron comidas tradicionales festivas, se leyeron extractos de la Hagadá y los embajadores aprendieron sobre las tradiciones y costumbres asociadas con la festividad.

El evento fue iniciado por el Embajador Erdan con el objetivo de fortalecer la familiaridad del judaísmo y las tradiciones y valores judíos entre los Embajadores. La embajadora de Estados Unidos ante la ONU, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, y el embajador de Ucrania ante la ONU, Sergiy Kyslytsya, estuvieron entre los participantes.

En sus comentarios, el embajador Erdan dijo: «En el Seder se nos ordena volver a contar el Éxodo como si fuéramos esclavos en Egipto y fuéramos sacados por la mano de Dios. Así es como el Éxodo se convierte en una memoria colectiva para todos los judíos. en todo el mundo. Pero aún más que eso, el Éxodo, que va de la esclavitud a la libertad, se convirtió en el tema universal de la liberación para todas las personas, judíos y no judíos por igual.

«No es solo la historia de la emancipación judía y la nacionalidad; también es la historia del Estado judío. El derecho legítimo del pueblo judío de regresar a la tierra que Dios nos prometió. Hoy, el Estado moderno de Israel es la continuación de ese mismo Éxodo, y es una historia de gran éxito:

“Cuando cada familia judía vuelve a contar la historia de nuestro viaje desde ser esclavos en Egipto hasta ser un pueblo libre en Sion, le recordamos al mundo que Israel ha sido, es y siempre será la patria del pueblo judío”.

El Embajador agregó: «Muchos ven a la ONU como el organismo que «otorgó» al pueblo judío un Estado, allá por 1947. Pero a mi pueblo no se le otorgó la escritura de Tierra Santa por derecho de la Asamblea General, se nos dio por mandato divino. El vínculo del pueblo judío con la tierra nació con la promesa de Dios a Abraham, nuestro antepasado y fue el Éxodo el que hizo realidad esta promesa.

Hoy compartimos con ustedes esta antigua tradición judía, no solo para recordar de dónde viene mi pueblo, sino también para reconocer hacia dónde vamos. ¡Que este año sea un año de libertad para todas las personas del mundo: desde Ucrania hasta el pueblo de Irán y más allá!».
