Los Amigos de la Universidad de Tel Aviv en Argentina, en conjunto con la Comunidad Amijai, realizaron un homenaje al ex presidente de Israel, Shimon Peres (Z´L), en el Auditorio de la comunidad con una gran cantidad de público. Los oradores invitados fueron el periodista y analista político internacional, Claudio Fantini, el ex embajador y representante de la República Argentina ante Naciones Unidas, Emilio Cárdenas, el embajador de Israel en Argentina, Ilan Sztulman y el Rabino Alejandro Avruj.
Con un auditorio con gran cantidad de público, la presidenta de los Amigos de la Universidad de Tel Aviv en Argentina, Polly Mizrahi de Deutsch, quien comentó que el ex presidente Luis Alberto Lacalle por el fallecimiento de otro expresidente, Jorge Batlle aunque leyó una carta que le envío. Lacalle calificó a Peres como un «artífice de la gesta de la independencia».
El primer orador fue el embajador de Israel en Argentina que comentó que la generación de Shimon Peres fue una generación que logró sobrevivir al Holocausto, y luego tuvieron el ideal de la mano de Theodor Herzl de crear un Estado judío, como lo es hoy Israel. Además detalló de cuáles son los cuatro puntos claves en cuanto a políticas que fueron impulsados por Peres.
Luego, el periodista Fantini resaltó: «La historia de Israel es Shimon Peres y viceversa», y se refirió a las corrientes de ashkenazies que llegaron a Palestina a principios del siglo XX para poblar lo que hoy es el Estado de Israel. Por último, comentó que el ateniense Pericles resaltaba los valores de la democracia y la creatividad de Atenas. En este sentido, subrayó que la idea de los kibutz es «una creación judía, busca una forma de unión y de igualdad».
El tercer orador fue Emilio Cárdenas, quien contó la anécdota que vivió en el cumpleaños de 90 del ex presidente de Israel, en el que participaron todos los referentes del mundo, y lo calificó a Shimon Peres como «un abuelo incansable» . «Fue un hombre atado a su fantasía, a su sueño (…) Murió siendo un optimista».
Por último, el Rabino Alejandro Avruj, de la Comunidad Amijai, dijo que se terminó de leer la Torá y que en tres de los cuatro libros sagrados se relata la historia de Moises y que en el final, cuándo Moises está cerca de llegar a la Tierra Prometida, él muere al igual que Shimon Peres que era un hombre que anhelaba la paz, pero no la pudo ver. A partir de esta analogía el rabino se preguntó…¿qué es llegar?.
Para finalizar hubo un concierto de música clásica por el Mtro. Rafael Gintoli en violín y Gastón Frydman en piano que intepretaron Nigún de Ernest Bloch, la Sonata en Mi menor, K.304 de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart y la Sonatina en Sol mayor, Op.100 de Antonin Dvorak.
