El Gobierno de Israel aprobó un Plan Nacional de Salud que pretende crear una base digital con la información médica de los ciudadanos israelíes, que consientan en formar parte de ella, para investigación y uso farmacéutico.
Eli Groner, director general de la Oficinal del Primer Ministro aseguró: «Los costos del sistema sanitario israelí son insostenibles (…) por eso estamos invirtiendo en la construcción de una nueva base de datos voluntaria, con los datos clínicos, genéticos y fisiológicos del paciente, que se podrán monitorizar con los mejores sistemas de análisis del mundo y tener el mayor conocimiento médico».
En Israel existe también el pasaporte digital, más conocido como biométrico, que comenzó siendo voluntario pero acabó siendo obligatorio para toda la población. Los responsables del nuevo Plan Nacional de Salud enfatizan que este plan, solo puede servir, sobre la base de ciudadanos voluntarios. El gobierno israelí planea gastar 231 millones de euros que comenzará a funcionar a finales del 2018 y que esperan a llegar a 100.000 voluntarios en los primeros cinco años.
En un mundo donde los datos digitalizados corren riesgos y pueden ser usados por todos, los responsables de este plan aseguraron que este plan de medicina preventiva a la que solo «podrán acceder investigadores y compañías» se extremará la seguridad para proteger los datos de estos voluntarios.
