El ministro noruego de Exteriores, Borge Brende, criticó duramente a la Autoridad Palestina (AP) por canalizar el apoyo financiero del país escandinavo, hacia un centro de mujeres en Cisjordania (Judea y Samaria), que adoptó el nombre de una terrorista con el fin honrarla y enaltecerla.
“Noruega no permitirá que la asocien con instituciones que toman nombres de terroristas”, manifestó Brende. “No vamos a aceptar el uso de la ayuda financiera noruega para tales fines”.
“La glorificación de los ataques terroristas es completamente inaceptable, y deploro esta decisión en los términos más fuertes posibles”, agregó.
El centro, inaugurado hace varias semanas cerca de la ciudad palestina de Nablus (Shjem), recibió el nombre de Dalal Mughrabi, quien participó en la masacre de 38 civiles, incluidos 13 niños, tras secuestrar un autobús que viajaba por la carretera costera de Israel junto a otros terroristas palestinos, en 1978.
La ONG Palestinian Media Watch (Observatorio de Medios Palestinos) había notado originalmente que el “Centro Dalal Mughrabi”, designado con ese nombre por la ONG palestina “Comité de Asuntos Técnicos de la Mujer”, llevaba los logotipos de la Autoridad Palestina, pero también de ONU Mujeres y de la Oficina de Representación de Noruega.
“Hemos pedido que el logo de la Oficina de Representación de Noruega sea quitado del edificio de inmediato, y que sea devuelto el dinero que se le ha asignado al centro”, agregó Brende.
“No haremos nuevos acuerdos con la Comisión Electoral Palestina ni con ONU Mujeres en las áreas palestinas hasta que se establezcan procedimientos satisfactorios para garantizar que sucesos de esta naturaleza no vuelvan a ocurrir”.
Los fondos noruegos, transmitidos a través de la Comisión Electoral Palestina y ONU Mujeres, tenían como objetivo promover la participación de las mujeres en el proceso electoral palestino.
