El grupo terrorista Hamas consideró que la retirada de los dispositivos de seguridad de las entradas a la Explanada de las Mezquitas por parte de las autoridades israelíes es una «victoria histórica» y que «la batalla por la mezquita no ha terminado aún».
«La retirada de las puertas electrónicas, las cámaras y demás medidas de seguridad instaladas por la ocupación israelí hace dos semanas en las entradas de la mezquita de Al Aqsa, es un logro y una victoria histórica para nuestra gente», expresó Hamas en un comunicado.
El movimiento islamista hizo un llamamiento a los palestinos de Cisjordania y Jerusalén para que se dirijan el viernes a Al Aqsa «a restaurar este gran logro» y añadió: «Nuestra batalla por Al Aqsa no ha terminado aún».
Los palestinos celebraron que Israel quitara todos los dispositivos que había colocado después del ataque del pasado día 14, en el que asesinaron a dos policías árabe israelíes y murieron los tres asaltantes.
«Nuestra gente en Jerusalén ha logrado un gran éxito, sacrificando su sangre por Al Aqsa y quebrando la decisión sionista de controlar la mezquita», añadió la organización. «La ocupación (Israel) ha sido derrotada por la voluntad de nuestra gente y se ha retirado ante los guardianes de la mezquita de Al Aqsa en Jerusalén», aseguró el jefe de Hamas, Ismail Haniye.
«Al Quds (Jerusalén) es tierra árabe e islámica y nunca será dividida. Todo el mundo debe entender que los palestinos nunca dejarán que nos ensucien nuestra mezquita de Al Aqsa», añadió Haniye.
El líder de Hamas también convocó a las diversas facciones palestinas, especialmente a Al Fatah, el partido del presidente palestino Mahmud Abbas, para que se reúnan urgentemente y «construir sobre esta victoria y que ella guíe el trabajo palestino».
Por su parte, líderes musulmanes en Jerusalén dijeron el jueves a sus fieles que vuelvan a rezar al lugar tras la decisión israelí, finalizando así el boicot en un disputado lugar sagrado de Jerusalén después de que Israel retiró los dispositivos de seguridad que había instalado en las entradas al complejo tras un letal ataque perpetrado por palestinos.
Abdel Azim Salhab, del Waqf, el ente religioso jordano que administra el lugar considerado sagrado por judíos y musulmanes, dijo: «Pedimos a los imanes que cierren todas las mezquitas de Jerusalén el viernes para que todos los fieles recen solo en la mezquita Al-Aqsa». El rezo del viernes es el punto álgido de la semana religiosa musulmana. Miles de fieles de todo el país y de las regiones palestinas suelen orar en el recinto de la Ciudad Vieja de Jerusalén.
