El primer niño nacido en el hospital del ejército israelí en Filipinas fue llamado «Israel»

El primer niño nacido en el hospital de campaña erigido por la misión humanitaria del Ejército de Defensa de Israel (Tzáhal) en Filipinas, ha sido llamado «Israel».

Filipinas ha sufrido la acometida del tifón Haiyan y el Ejército de Defensa de Israel se apresuró a enviar 148 rescatistas y 100 toneladas de suministros a la arrasada ciudad de Daanbatayan en la provincia de Cebú.

«¡Es un niño!» escribió el portavoz militar Peter Lerner, «sorprendentes noticias llegan del hospital del campaña del ejército. El primer bebé nacido. La madre agradecida lo llamó Israel».

«A tan solo minutos de la inauguración del hospital ya han llegado los primeros pacientes que precisaban tratamiento urgente. Entre ellos una madre embarazada que dio a luz en el hospital. El niño nació sin complicaciones y sus padres decidieron llamarlo Israel, en honor a los médicos que asistieron el parto y le salvaron la vida», manifestó el vocero militar Roni Kaplan.

El ministro de Defensa Moshé Yaalón habló con el secretario de Defensa de Filipinas, Voltaire Gazmin, para expresarle sus condolencias por la pérdida de vidas, que según las estimaciones de las Naciones Unidas superan las cuatro mil personas, aunque de acuerdo con algunos reportes podrían
alcanzar la cifra de diez mil.

La ONU ha señalado que el tifón afectó a once millones de personas y que 600 mil han perdido sus viviendas.

«El pueblo de Israel siente el dolor del pueblo filipino y está junto a ustedes en esta hora difícil», dijo el ministro de Defensa, Moshé Yaalón. «Confío en que la misión del Ejército de Defensa de Israel en las Filipinas hará todo lo que pueda para salvar vidas», agregó.

Tzáhal montó el hospital de campaña al lado de un dispensario médico local en la ciudad de Bogo, que resultó severamente golpeada por el tifón. En las ciudades aledañas viven alrededor de 250 mil personas que no tienen la posibilidad de acceder a una asistencia médica puesto que el nosocomio más cercano se encuentra a tres horas de viaje y las carreteras están seriamente dañadas. La intención de los miembros del equipo, tal como lo señaló el comandante del hospital de campaña, coronel doctor Dudu Dagan, es «complementar la ayuda y trabajar hombro a hombro con los médicos y enfermeros locales».

La ceremonia de inauguración contó con la presencia del vice presidente de Filipinas quien agradeció por la ayuda brindada: “Quiero agradecer al pueblo de Israel que envió esta gente hasta aquí para ayudarnos”, manifestó.

“En nombre de la gente de Bogo quiero agradecer a Israel por traer a sus mejores doctores aquí a Filipinas, estamos eternamente agradecidos”, agradeció el intendente de Bogo. AURORA.
