Se inauguró la onceava edición del Punta del Este Jewish Film, el Festival de Cine Judío de Uruguay que se prolongará hasta el miércoles 5 de febrero, en los salones del Hotel Conrad Resort & Casino de Punta del Este.
Este evento cultural, surgido hace una década, ofrecerá un variado panorama sobre las tradiciones, cultura e historia del pueblo judío.
Más de treinta películas de una decena de países se estarán presentando a lo largo de cinco intensas jornadas La apertura tendrá lugar hoy sábado 1° a las 22:00 horas con un homenaje especial al cineasta Luis Puenzo, destacado realizador y productor argentino (La historia oficial, Gringo viejo), quien participó del primer festival celebrado en 2004 y será reconocido con el Premio UTE a la trayectoria que otorga el Festival.
Puenzo estará además presentando mañana a las 20:30 horas su película documental Algunos que vivieron, acompañado por Graciela Jinich quien fuera coordinadora de la Fundación Shoá en Argentina. Como película de apertura, se exhibirá hoy a las 22:30 horas la producción alemana Hotel Lux, de Leander Haussman, comedia dramática ambientada en Berlín y Moscú a fines de los años treinta.
Habrá también, como todos los años, una intensa actividad presentada por la Universidad ORT de Uruguay que incluye mañana, en Sala 1 a las 21 horas, el estreno mundial del documental Giza, la niña de la maleta, coproducción hispano-Uruguaya realizada por David Serrano Blanquier, sobre la experiencia de Giza Alterwajn, quien nació en el gueto de Varsovia y fue sacada de allí, oculta en una maleta y protegida por una familia polaca. Luego de la guerra vino a vivir a Uruguay con familiares y pasaron décadas antes de que reencontrara a la familia que le salvó la vida.
