Efraim Zadoff llevó a Israel un pedazo de la fachada del edificio AMIA, sin saber que sería parte de un memorial a las víctimas (VIDEO)

El caso AMIA…es al atentado del 18 de julio de 1994, en el cual, un coche cargado con explosivos se estrelló contra el frente del edificio de la AMIA y lo destruyó.

20 años después, en entrevista, Efraím Zadoff, rabino laico nacido en Argentina y establecido en Israel, recuerda. Rememora este centro de la vida judía argentina, reducido a escombros. Y con él la vida trozada de 85 familias. Y con él la insensibilidad de un gobierno y ahora, la muerte de un fiscal. Y el dolor que causa la incomprensión, la falta de justicia, la impunidad…

“Quiero decir unas palabras sobre ese edificio de la AMIA- palabras personales. Ese edificio era, en gran medida, mi segunda casa. Ahí estudié durante 6 años en el Seminario de Maestros donde, a veces, hacíamos actuaciones; había ahí un auditorio de cuatrocientas butacas. Canté en coros, bailé en ese escenario y uno de mis hermanos actuó en obras de teatro en Yiddish”.

“En el segundo piso estaba el seminario de la AMIA y en el tercero, la biblioteca del IWO (Organización Mundial de Yiddish, por sus siglas en inglés), donde pasé muchas, muchas horas estudiando. En el cuarto piso, estaban las oficinas del Vaad Hajinuj y cuando realicé la investigación de mi doctorado sobre la educación judía en Buenos Aires, estuve muchísimo tiempo ahí. Fue donde encontré las actas, fotografié objetos e hice entrevistas. En gran medida, mi identidad judía tenía sus raíces ahí. Lo que ocurrió es que tiraron el edificio y murieron 85 y personas; fue terrible. Unos meses- o un año- después, fui de visita a Buenos Aires por cuestiones personales y un amigo me dijo “ven conmigo al lugar donde depositaron todos los escombros del edificio” en un lugar de la costa de Río de la Plata. Fuimos y vimos piedras del frente del edificio. No sé si sabes pero el frente del edificio era de granito negro y arriba tenía escrito “AMIA” tallado en el granito. Y mi amigo me dijo “mira, tienes un pedazo del frente; llévatelo” y le contesté “¿qué voy a hacer con eso?”. Respondió “no importa, hazme caso, llévatelo”. A la tercera o cuarta vez que me lo dijo pensé “bueno, si él lo dice, tengo que obedecer”, así que lo tomé y me lo llevé. Lo puse en una bolsa y me lo llevé a Israel”.

“Pesaba como seis, siete kilos, me lo llevé en la mano. Ya para ese entonces, era un tesoro. Lo tenía en mi casa e hice varias apelaciones a la Knesset para que se erigiera un monumento en memoria de la AMIA, de los muertos, y que se utilizara esa piedra -pero no funcionó. Un día, hace algunos años, me hablaron de la organización de Olim en Israel para pedirme si podía dar una conferencia en recuerdo del Yortzait del atentado en la AMIA y me contaron que estaban haciendo una pequeña escultura en un parque que la municipalidad destinó para ese fin. Entonces llevé la piedra y les dije “miren, yo tengo esta piedra y la traje para que sea colocada en un monumento de recuerdo; se las doy con la condición de que la utilicen”. El monumento ya estaba diseñado pero hicieron una modificación e incluyeron la piedra en el centro y sobre ella tallaron las letras “AMIA”. Para mí, fue una gran emoción”.

“La primera tragedia es que, hasta el día de hoy, los gobiernos argentinos no han logrado encontrar a los culpables. Parecería que no hay voluntad de hacerlo porque existen muchos intereses- intereses que relacionan a los gobiernos argentinos con el gobierno de Irán. Entre las personas que conocen del caso en Israel, no cabe la menor duda de que fue Irán quien estaba detrás de todo por intermedio de su organización terrorista patrocinada por ellos, Hezbollah, y no sé si los gobiernos no tuvieron voluntad o interés… O tuvieron otros intereses.

“El Presidente anterior, Néstor Kirchner, el esposo extinto de la actual Presidenta, le dio el caso al Fiscal Nisman para que lo llevara adelante. Eso hace suponer que el ex Presidente sí tenía interés en que esto se aclarara y que Nisman recibió todo el apoyo posible por parte de la Presidencia. Tú sabes que en un Estado están las fuerzas de seguridad, las fuerzas secretas y esto y lo otro y cada una tiene sus propios intereses. Yo sé que Nisman estuvo muchas veces el Israel y no solamente para visitar a la prima de su madre”.

“Yo participé también de una reunión en la Knesset en la que él fue a relatar lo que estaba investigando y desarrollando. Esa reunión fue a puertas abiertas, es decir, que no se dijeron cosas secretas. Nisman siguió visitando Israel y uno puede imaginarse por qué viajó y lo que se sabe es que fue a recibir más información, es decir, para avanzar en la investigación, para aprovechar información que los servicios de inteligencia israelíes pueden recolectar. Unos días antes del asesinato- del supuesto suicidio- anunció que tenía pruebas fehacientes, como un memorando que firmaron la Presidenta y el Canciller argentinos con Irán sobre llegar a un acuerdo para investigar conjuntamente y pruebas de que eso era parte de un complot que servía intereses del gobierno argentino y que era una distracción de la investigación. Al día siguiente estaba por presentar sus hallazgos ante una Comisión Especial del Parlamento Argentino y la noche anterior murió.

“De ahí, la imaginación de cada uno de nosotros puede pensar razonablemente qué fue lo que probablemente ocurrió. Nisman no era una persona depresiva, sino que era un combatiente muy fuerte y contaba con el apoyo de varios sectores importantes. La gente que lo conoció, como mi amiga periodista, Roxana Levinson, decía “lo conocía muy bien y no era una persona que fuera a suicidarse”.
