El primer ministro israelí, Benjamin Netanyahu, se tomará entre dos y tres semanas para formar un nuevo gobierno, después de su victoria en las elecciones legislativas del martes, indicó este miércoles su partido, el derechista Likud, en un comunicado.
Netanyahu se entrevistó con los líderes de varios partidos y tiene «la intención de ponerse a trabajar inmediatamente en la formación del gobierno, para concluir esta tarea en un plazo de dos a tres semanas», indicó el Likud.
«La realidad no nos espera y sigue su curso. Los ciudadanos israelíes esperan de nosotros que cuanto antes formemos un liderazgo que trabaje para ellos en seguridad, economía y sociedad como nos comprometimos», señaló Netanyahu.
Los socios con los que cuenta el primer ministro son: Naftali Bennett (Hogar Judío, ultranacionalista), Moshé Kahlón (Kulanu, centro), Avigdor Lieberman (Israel Beitenu, derechista), Arie Deri (Shas, ultraortodoxo) y Moshé Gafni y Yaacov Lizman (Judaismo de la Torá, ultraortodoxo).
El partido gobernante obtuvo 29 de los 120 escaños del parlamento, según resultados casi definitivos, y es prácticamente seguro que Netanyahu sea llamado a formar gobierno por el presidente Reuven Rivlin para asumir su tercer mandato consecutivo, el cuarto si se tiene en cuenta el de 1996-1999.
Su principal rival, el laborista Isaac Herzog, reconoció la victoria del mandatario y le deseó «buena suerte», en declaraciones a medios israelíes.
