Salah al Din (Saladino) Mahamid, un maestro árabe israelí de la localidad de Umm al Fahm, en el norte del país, publicó fotografías presuntamente tomadas en Siria, en las que dice haberse sumado al grupo terrorista suní Estado Islámico, junto con su esposa, una judía convertida al Islam.
En 2014, Mahamid fue detenido por los servicios de inteligencia israelíes bajo la sospecha de haberse sumado a esa organización extremista islámica; pero luego fue liberado.
Mahamid, de 23 veinte años, compartió en la red de internet fotografías con sus amigos y conocidos, donde se muestra supuestamente entrenándose con armas de guerra y con las prendas que suele utilizar el Estado Islámico. También envió fotografías de su hijo recién nacido. El bebé aparece en la imagen rodeado de armas.
“As salaam alaikun (la paz sea con ustedes)… mi nombre es Abu al Harit al Maqdisi Salah al Din Mahamid. Confirmo que estoy en un país islamista con mi esposa convertida al Islam, que se me ha unido. Hace tan solo un mes, nació nuestro hijo”, escribió Mahamid en su mensaje.
Mahamid relata que junto a su mujer viajaron primero a Irak, pero que ahora están en Siria. Hace un año, fue detenido bajo la sospecha de haberse unido al Estado Islámico; pero un tribunal de Hadera resolvió liberarlo. Hace varios meses, cuando viajó al exterior, la policía comenzó a sospechar que se había unido al grupo terrorista.
Mahamid comenzó a trabajar como maestro en una escuela, el verano pasado, tras casarse con una inmigrante rusa judía convertida al Islam.
En los últimos dos años, varios árabes israelíes se han sumado al Estado Islámico. Algunos de ellos han regresado al país, y han sido encarcelados. Según los reportes, al menos cuatro árabes israelíes habrían muerto combatiendo en las filas de esa organización terrorista islámica.
