Hezbollah se tiene confianza de que puede llevar la guerra al territorio israelí en cualquier futura conflagración, señala un reporte de la revista Foreign Policy, que cita “fuentes cercanas al partido”.
«No va a ser para nada similar a la guerra de 2006», dijo una fuente a la periodista libanesa Nur Samaha. Otra expresó que «la mayor preocupación de Israel es la experiencia adquirida por Hezbollah en Siria; ya que ahora tiene experiencia de combate ofensiva y no sólo defensiva».
Más de mil combatientes de Hezbollah han muerto en el pantano sirio. Sin embargo, Samaha indica que durante la guerra en apoyo al régimen del presidente sirio, Bashar Assad, la organización extremista chií libanés «ha adquirido también un nivel de experiencia táctica y un armamento que le convierte en una fuerza mucho más amenazante».
Una fuente no identificada le expresó a Samaha que los combates en Siria llevaron a Hezbollah «a desarrollar una estructura sofisticada de comando y control, incluyendo redes de telecomunicaciones avanzadas, el uso de aviones no tripulados de reconocimiento, y la capacidad para mantener extensas líneas de suministro» – todos ellos elementos que el grupo terrorista pro-iraní espera poder utilizar con eficacia contra Israel-.
El arsenal de armas de Hezbollah también ha sido supuestamente mejorado, escribe Samaha. El reporte afirma que el grupo tiene ahora «misiles tácticos
balísticos, misiles Scud, misiles iraníes Fateh-110, y misiles M-600, una versión modificada del misil sirio Fateh-110».
Jeffrey White, analista de defensa del Washington Institute for Near East Policy, es citado diciendo que Hezbollah puede ahora utilizar misiles guiados para atacar blancos con precisión en Israel, «incluyendo puestos de mando, pistas de aterrizaje, y blancos económicos principales».
