Los sucesos festivos de Lag Baomer. Por Víctor Zajdenberg

Cincuenta días median entre Pésaj y Shavuót, mencionados con el nombre de “Sefirat Haómer”, los días para la ofrenda como producto de la recolección agraria.

Pésaj es la Fiesta de la Libertad y Shavuót es la festividad que señala la entrega de la Torá en el Monte Sinaí a los judíos salidos de Egipto, conducidos por su líder Moisés.

La liberación de los esclavos hebreos ha sido el paso previo indispensable para el suceso fundamental que ocurrió mas tarde a la vera del Monte Sinaí.

Entre estos dos grandes acontecimientos del Pueblo Judío se encuentra el festejo de solo un día pero que tiene contenidos trascendentales: LAG BAOMER.

LAG BAOMER es una fiesta nacional pues conmemora el levantamiento de Bar Kojba contra la ocupación del Imperio Romano (año 132 de e/e) para intentar reconquistar la Tierra de Israel, arrasada y mancillada por el bárbaro y politeísta ejército imperial.

A Bar Cojba lo acompañaron en este emprendimiento militar el Rabí Akiba y sus discípulos quienes le brindaron el apoyo espiritual y aunque no pudieron vencer a la poderosa maquinaria romana, dejaron a la historia del Pueblo Judío un legado de valentía y abnegación en la lucha eterna por la libertad y reunificación del pueblo.

En LAG BAOMER se recuerda también al Rabí Shimon bar Yojai, sabio y figura preclara del siglo II que, antes de morir justo en ésta misma fecha, rogó a sus alumnos y seguidores que su muerte sea recordada con festejos.

Luego de la Independencia del Estado de Israel en 1948, LAG BAOMER se ha reafirmado como un día de alegría; dando la bienvenida a la primavera; visitando los bosques para recordar a Bar Cojba y a Rabí Akiba; peregrinando hacia Merón, muy cerca de la ciudad de Tzfat en el Galil, donde se encuentra la tumba de Rabí Shimon bar Yojai y realizando excursiones hacia los cuatro puntos cardinales del país.

Como corolario vale relatar que a la llegada de esta noche tan especial  los niños y jóvenes encienden fogatas en todas las localidades de Israel cantando y bailando hasta que las llamas se apagan.
