Israel está formando unidades de defensa civil en el norte del país, a modo de preparación ante un eventual conflicto con Hezbollah, según explicó Col Eren Makov, comandante regional del comando del norte.
«Hay un gran cambio en la población árabe en Israel, ya que son muchos más los que están dispuestos a cooperar con nosotros», señaló el oficial.
«Les damos formación de lo que hay que hacer y lo ven como una contribución», agregó.
Makov apuntó que más de la mitad de los ciudadanos que viven en el norte de Israel son árabes y están bajo la misma amenaza de misiles del grupo terrorista libanés.
El comandante israelí aclaró que estas unidades de defensa no son parte del Ejército y que el objetivo es formar a la población civil en las operaciones de rescate y trabajo con la ciudadanía.
En diálogo con The Media Line, el militar reconoció que Israel no está al borde de una guerra con Hezbollah, pero advirtió que debe estar preparado para cualquier escenario.
Eyal Zisser, profesor de la Universidad de Tel Aviv, remarcó la amenaza de las nuevas habilidades de lucha que está desarrollando el grupo terrorista y que en el futuro podrían ser utilizadas contra Israel.
