El Psicoanálisis en Israel es una investigación rigurosa y documentada llevada por el psicoanalista Guido Liebermann. Su libro recorre la historia del freudismo en la Palestina Británica, antes de la creación del Estado de Israel. Historia de inmigraciones, de tragedias, de combates ideológicos y de fuertes personalidades, que desfilan sobre un fondo de antisemitismo y de ascenso del nazismo. La inmigración judía en Palestina aporta por oleadas sucesivas algunos pioneros del movimiento freudiano naciente (Moshe Wulff, Max Eitingon, Josef Friedjung…)
Desde 1934, una nueva Sociedad de psicoanálisis ve la luz del día. Otros psicoanalistas menos conocidos, analizados en los divanes de Berlín o de Viena, prosiguen su formación en Jerusalén o en Tel Aviv, y contribuyen a su auge.
Sin embargo, la introducción del psicoanálisis en la sociedad judía no hubiese sido posible sin el inestimable sostén aportado por algunos médicos, pedagogos y dirigentes sionistas aliados a la causa analítica publica el sitio Aurora.
Estos precursores han tenido que llevar adelante incesantes y rudas batallas para introducirla en las nuevas infraestructuras –escuelas, kibutzim, hospitales, universidades-, y también contra las autoridades religiosas tradicionalistas.
El libro es también la historia de las resistencias al psicoanálisis y de los interrogantes de Freud ante los dilemas del sionismo.
El libro ofrece así una gama de investigaciones sobre distintas capas históricas, políticas e ideológicas, que el lector podrá apreciar, desde la influencia de la modernidad europea, el socialismo, el positivismo, y la confluencia entre esos factores en la cultura de los pioneros sionistas, conocidos como “jalutzim”.
Aquí nos enfocaremos en ellos, dada la originalidad y creatividad con la que el movimiento de pioneros integró el saber psicoanalítico.
El movimiento juvenil Hashomer Hatzair fue el principal grupo político que experimentó nuevas formas de relación social. Se desmarcó del sionismo oficial de la Organización Sionista Mundial, de la Internacional Socialista y del marxismo oficial. Los jalutzianos de Hashomer sostenían que la transformación del hombre y de la sociedad no pasa por el establecimiento de una “dictadura del proletariado” (ya en 1911), sino por una profunda transformación de la subjetividad del ser humano, especialmente de los judíos. La llegada del movimiento Hashomer a Palestina, fue en 1920. El pegadogo antiautoritario alemán Gustav Wyneken, que estaba en contra de la educación prusiana, sugería nuevos métodos de aprendizaje colectivo y horizontal. Junto al anarco-marxista judío Gustav Landauer, ambos aportaron su cuota de influencia ideológica al movimiento.
El freudismo, en lo que implicaba una ruptura moderna ante el saber eclesiástico y médico de la sexualidad y del psiquismo, encajó perfectamente en las intenciones de los pioneros, ansiosos por terminar con la cultura represiva y moralizante que cristalizaba en la familia burguesa o en la familia religiosa tradicional.
Muchos años antes de Mayo del 68 o del hippismo norteamericano, en 1920 se funda en Betania la efímera Comunidad de Erotismo Compartido (Edá shifutít erótit). Meir Yaári, uno de los líderes de Hashomer, postula que los jóvenes podrán expresar libremente su amor, sus pensamientos, su propio sistema económico, sus propios servicios, su propia educación, y llama a leer las obras de Freud. El quería romper la “coraza psíquica” que impide emerger a la pulsión. Sin embargo, Yaári rechaza el pesimismo del psicoanálisis en cuanto capacidad de la fuerza de la cultura para transformar el género humano, y acepta el optimismo marxista que tenía esperanzas en cuanto a los progresos sociales y espirituales del hombre en la sociedad. El psicoanálisis, que fue censurado en Rusia luego de la Revolución Bolchevique por ser considerado una “ciencia burguesa”, logró mantener su influencia en la pedagogía colectiva del movimiento kibutziano, al menos hasta 1950.
Durante la década de 1960 y hasta el fin de los años 1970, el psicoanálisis institucional, muy sometido al poder médico, se había convertido ya en ese momento, en una disciplina altamente elitista, hermética e incluso sectaria. Para entonces, para el público era ya una práctica psicoterapéutica más, como lo sigue siendo hasta nuestros días.
El autor nota un cierto incremento del interés por la obra de Freud a partir de 1977, cuando se fundó en la Universidad Hebrea el Centro Sigmund Freud, que funciona hasta hoy día en su campus. En el 2001, se funda la publicación Israel Journal of Psychoanalysis, en lengua inglesa, cuyo primer número apareció en ese año y el último apareció en 2003. El psicoanálisis es tema de estudio en las facultades de Literatura, Teatro, Filosofía, Historia, Derecho, aunque es aventurado afirmar que se trata de una expansión de la práctica en Israel.
