Un hombre fue abatido en el parisiense aeropuerto de Orly tras haber atacado, en nombre de Alá, a una patrulla de militares del dispositivo antiterrorista, hora y media después de haber disparado y herido levemente a una policía en un control de carretera en el norte de la capital francesa. Según han informado fuentes de la fiscalía francesa, el agresor actuó al grito de “estoy aquí para morir por Alá”.
El individuo -identificado como Ziyed Ben Belgacem, de 39 años, fichado por la policía y condenado en tres ocasiones a prisión por robos a mano armada y tráfico de drogas- había sido también objeto de atención de los servicios de inteligencia de Francia por su radicalización, según relató el fiscal de París, François Molins.
Esa radicalización tuvo lugar tras una estancia en prisión entre 2011 y 2012, lo que llevó a que recientemente su domicilio fuera registrado, bajo el estado de emergencia decretado en 2015, sin que se encontraran elementos que justificaran una atención particular. Serán los servicios antiterroristas de la Fiscalía los que dirijan la investigación, en la que tres personas -el padre, el hermano y un primo del agresor- están siendo interrogadas.
El domicilio de Belgacem en Garge les Gonesse, en la periferia norte de París, fue registrado sin que se encontraran elementos importantes, más allá de algo de cocaína, un machete y una cantidad de dinero en divisas extranjeras. La acción de Belgacem -de nacionalidad francesa y nacido en París- provocó que el aeropuerto fuera desalojado, lo que obligó al traslado de unas 3.000 personas ante el temor de que el agresor llevara explosivos, y fuera cerrado al tráfico aéreo, generando la anulación de un centenar de vuelos e importantes perturbaciones en el resto.
Sobre las 07.50 hora local (06.50 GMT), Belgacem fue objeto de un control de la policía cuando iba al volante de su Renault Clio a elevada velocidad cerca de su domicilio. Tras entregar sus papeles a la agente, el hombre sacó un revolver de cartuchos y le disparó, provocándole heridas leves, antes de emprender la huida.
Belgacem se dirigió a un bar de la localidad de Vitry, vecina del aeropuerto de Orly, en el que había estado la noche anterior junto a su primo, el mismo que se encuentra bajo arresto. Allí amenazó a los clientes y efectuó al menos cuatro disparos sin causar heridos, antes de huir de nuevo al volante de su coche. Posteriormente lo abandonó y robó a punta de pistola otro, un Citroën C4 con el que llegó al aparcamiento de Orly a las 08.06 hora local (07.06 GMT). Minutos más tarde accedió a la zona de embarque del primer piso de la terminal Sur de Orly.
Sin mediar palabra, se abalanzó sobre una soldado de una patrulla de tres efectivos del Ejército del Aire miembros del dispositivo de más de 6.000 militares desplegados en las zonas sensibles del país, tras la oleada de atentados yihadistas de los últimos años. Belgacem, quien previamente había tirado al suelo una mochila que contenía un bidón de carburante, agarró a la militar por el cuello con su brazo izquierdo, mientras con el derecho apuntaba con su pistola en su sien y amenazaba a los otros dos soldados, que a su vez le apuntaban con sus armas.
En ese momento Belgacem, que portaba un ejemplar del Corán, les amenazó: “Tiren las armas, estoy aquí para morir por Alá, de todas formas va a haber muertos”. Según las imágenes de videovigilancia, se produjo un forcejeo entre la soldado y el agresor, que trataba de arrebatarle su metralleta. Algo que logró tras varios intentos, pero la soldado pudo desembarazarse del agresor, lo que permitió a sus compañeros disparar una primera vez, lo que no evitó que Belgacem volviera a atrapar a su víctima.
Un segundo disparo le hizo caer al suelo, pero se levantó, y fue necesario un tercero para acabar con su vida, según Molins, algo que ocurrió poco antes de las 08.30 hora local (07.30 GMT).
A primera hora de la tarde local, tras comprobarse que no había explosivos, el aeropuerto reabrió de forma paulatina, aunque la normalidad total no se recuperará hasta mañana, según sus responsables.
El presidente de Francia, François Hollande, ha destacado “la valentía y la eficacia” mostradas por los agentes de policía y los militares que se enfrentaron al hombre “particularmente peligroso”.
En un comunicado difundido por el Palacio del Elíseo, Hollande “reafirma la determinación del Estado a actuar sin descanso para luchar contra el terrorismo, defender la seguridad de nuestros compatriotas y asegurar la protección del territorio”.
“La vigilancia se mantendrá al más alto nivel, y una vez más la operación ‘Sentinelle” ha demostrado su utilidad en complemento de las fuerzas de policía y de la gendarmería”, señaló Hollande.
