“Ambos acordaron que la cooperación en materia de seguridad entre el Reino Unido e Israel es muy fuerte y que continuará, particularmente en (lo relativo a la lucha) antiterrorista, donde afrontan desafíos compartidos”, agregó la fuente.
“Ellos hablaron de Irán, y la primera ministra (May) mencionó la importancia del acuerdo nuclear con Irán, que ha neutralizado la posibilidad de que los iraníes adquieran armas nucleares por más de una década”, indicó el portavoz.
La líder conservadora dijo que el Reino Unido está comprometido con el acuerdo. “Creemos que es de vital importancia para la seguridad regional”, puntualizó.
Al mismo tiempo, la jefa del Gobierno resaltó la importancia de que el acuerdo sea implementado y vigilado.
Los dos políticos también coincidieron en que las relaciones comerciales bilaterales se deben fortalecer y mencionaron que un grupo de trabajo comercial británico-israelí ha celebrado ya una reunión constructiva, sobre la posibilidad de que los vínculos comerciales entre ambos países sean lo más libres posibles tras el “brexit”.
Se espera que el Reino Unido esté fuera de la UE en marzo de 2019, una vez cumplido los dos años de negociaciones formales sobre la retirada del país del bloque europeo.
