El diario más importante de Irlanda comparó a Israel con los nazis

Editores del diario The Irish Independent, el periódico principal de Irlanda, eligieron para la sección de «la carta de esta semana» una que comparaba la actitud nazi hacia los judíos con el trato de Israel a los palestinos.

Además de la incitación, los hechos históricos incorrectos y el argumento anti-intelectual de que las “atrocidades” israelíes contra los palestinos están en todas partes en el mismo mundo moral que el trato nazi contra los judíos, estas comparaciones son descriptas como antisemitas por el Parlamento Europeo y la Alianza Internacional sobre el Recuerdo del Holocausto, de la que Irlanda forma parte.

Precisamente, el código de editores publicados por el Concejo de Prensa de Irlanda (Press Council of Ireland) incluye una cláusula de prejuicio (Principio 8), que dice lo siguiente:

La prensa no debe publicar material destinado o que pueda causar una ofensa grave o incitar al odio hacia una persona o grupo por motivos de raza, religión, nacionalidad, color, origen étnico, pertenencia a la comunidad itinerante, sexo, orientación sexual, estado civil, discapacidad, enfermedad o edad.
