Según el Daily News, los investigadores están detrás de Menajem Karelefsky como sospechoso. El residente de Pittsburgh acusó a Max, profesor de la Yeshiva Chaim Berlin, de ser un pedófilo.
Un número de teléfono que aparece en el perfil de Karelefsky en LinkedIn lleva a un mensaje de voz en hebreo que dice: “Que el nombre y la memoria del Rabino Max se borren, simplemente, de verdad, para siempre”.
El hijo del rabino le dijo al portal norteamericano que Karelefsky era “un psicópata”. “Dijo que iba a llevar a cabo un atentado contra la vida de mi padre”, comentó Ezra Max. “Es un individuo enfermo que necesita ayuda”.
Un residente de Midwood, Shimon Gifter, dijo al Daily News que Karelefsky había amenazado con matar al rabino durante años: “Vive en Pittsburgh, pero la gente lo vio en el vecindario ayer. Había estado preguntando a la gente dónde estaba el rabino Max porque dijo ‘quiero matarlo’. Pero la gente no le creyó. Él ha estado diciendo cosas así durante 10 años».
