La policía de la localidad de Estrasburgo en Francia anunció restricciones contra los fanáticos del club israelí Maccabi Haifa que se encuentran en la ciudad de cara al partido entre su equipo y el cuadro local en la fase clasificatoria a la Liga Europea.
Las restricciones anunciadas incluyen limitar a 600 el número de fanáticos del club israelí que pueden asistir al estadio y la prohibición de llevar banderas de Israel al encuentro.
Miri Regev, ministra de Cultura y Deportes de Israel, dijo que la decisión le parecía «inconcebible» y enfatizó que no es normal que «un fanático de un equipo israelí deba ir con miedo a un estadio deportivo en Francia y que le prohíban llevar su bandera nacional».
Por su parte, el canciller Israel Katz, dijo que dio instrucciones a la embajada israelí en París de «actuar inmediatamente para eliminar las restricciones impuestas al Maccabi Haifa».
Además, el diario Israel Hayom informó que tres fanáticos del equipo israelí fueron agredidos por residentes locales el miércoles por la noche, cuando supieron que venían de Israel.

Si esto se corrobora, Israel deberá tomar firmemente la decisión de no presentar al equipo del Maccabi Haifa en la tristemente célebre y antisemita ciudad de estrasburgo, por falta de garantías a sus jugadores e hinchas. Y deberá pedir sancionar severamente al club francés y a la AFF.
