El reconocimiento a los fundadores del Grupo INSUD tuvo lugar (además de la cena anual) el jueves 19 de diciembre. Fue en la sede de Pasteur 633, en el marco de un cálido encuentro en el que participaron Eichbaum, el vicepresidente Leonardo Chullmir y el tesorero Alberto Chaieno, entre otros integrantes de la Comisión Directiva.
¿Quién es Hugo Sigman?
Hugo Sigman es el dueño –cofundador junto a su esposa, Silvia Gold– de Grupo Insud. Es uno de los tres conglomerados biotecnológicos más importantes del mundo. Además es médico, productor de cine y una de las 10 personas más ricas de la Argentina, según la revista Forbes. Su patrimonio familiar es de USD 2.000 millones.
“Nunca hay que perder de vista las razones por las cuales trabajamos. En mi caso las motivaciones principales es que exista accesibilidad de los medicamentos para la mayoría de la población. Promocionar la ciencia y la cultura y que todos nuestros ciudadanos mejoren su calidad de vida”, afirmó Sigman.
Sigman (75) es uno de los cerebros detrás del anuncio que hizo ayer el presidente Alberto Fernández sobre la producción local de la vacuna que desarrollan la Universidad de Oxford y el laboratorio británico sueco AstraZeneca.
“Para nosotros es una gran alegría. En Argentina AstraZeneca eligió al laboratorio mAbxience que será el productor del reactivo de la vacuna, es un reconocimiento a la calidad de los laboratorios argentinos”, dijo Alberto Fernández.
mAbxience es una compañía biotecnológica internacional especializada en la investigación, desarrollo y fabricación de anticuerpos monoclonales, parte del grupo farmacéutico Insud Pharma. Será el encargado de la producción local que, según se anunció, se complementará en México y abastecerá a buena parte de América Latina.
La planta se encuentra en Garín, partido de Escobar. Allí están sus tres empresas. Allí se encuentra el polo biotecnológico más importante de Latinoamérica donde trabajan 1800 personas, 600 de ellas científicos.
