El próximo 17 de diciembre a las 18.45 hs, embajadores acreditados en la Argentina, encenderán junto a la DAIA, la 8va vela de Janucá.

Será en los jardines de la Embajada Británica y será transmitida a través del canal de YouTube y la cuenta de Instagram de la DAIA.

La Delegación de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas es quien organiza el encendido de las velas con presencia de los embajadores, como sucedió en anteriores ocasiones. De acuerdo a los protocolos por la pandemia, se establecerán los cupos correspondientes de asistentes al acto con distanciamiento social.

Con el encendido de las velas se da a conocer el verdadero mensaje de Janucá: que las luces de cada vela iluminen al mundo y en nombre de cada embajador que la encienda, al país que representan.

El Director ejecutivo de la DAIA, Víctor Garelik expresó que: «La luz de las velas de Janucá y el milagro de la festividad, ilumine al mundo para que no sepamos mas de enfermedades, de terrorismo ni de discriminación»

Del 10 al 18 de Diciembre, los judios en Israel y en el mundo, celebrarán la festividad de Janucá, que conmemora el milagro del aceite en las lámparas.

La palabra hebrea Janucá significa “inauguración”. En el siglo 2 AEC, la época del Segundo Templo Sagrado, el régimen sirio-griego de Antíoco pretendió alejar a los judíos del judaísmo. Lo hizo con la esperanza de asimilarlos a la cultura griega. Los judíos se resistieron y liderados por Matityahu y luego por su hijo Yehuda el Macabeo, se levantaron contra los griegos.

Antíoco envió miles de tropas armadas para acabar con la rebelión. Los guerreros judíos entraron a Jerusalem y encontraron el Templo Sagrado en ruinas y profanado con ídolos. Los Macabeos lo limpiaron, y lo reinauguraron el 25 de Kislev, este años, 25 de diciembre. Cuando llegó el momento de re-encender la Menorá, revisaron todo el Templo, y sólo encontraron una vasija de aceite puro que llevaba el sello del Sumo Sacerdote pero no había más aceite con que encender la menorá los siguientes días.

Aquí ocurrió el milagro, ya que esa pequeña vasija de aceite ardió durante ocho días, el tiempo necesario para producir un nuevo suministro de aceite. A partir de entonces, los judíos han observado la festividad durante ocho días. Cada noche luego de rezar las plegarias, el jefe de familia toma la vela central de la janukía (candelabro de 9 brazos) y se enciende la primera vela. La segunda noche, se encienden dos y así hasta llegar a la octava vela.
