La selección nacional de Israel clasificó a la Eurobasket

La selección nacional de Israel ratificó su lugar de privilegio entre los mejores equipos que compiten en Europa y clasificó a la Eurobasket. Venció este lunes a Polonia y aseguró su clasificación.
El representativo israelí ganó 78-72 su cuarto partido consecutivo en el torneo clasificatorio y se afianzó en el primer puesto del grupo A.

En febrero, antes de la pandemia, Israel había derrotado a Polonia de visitante y Rumania de local. En la reanudación del torneo el fin de semana pasado obtuvo un resonante triunfo ante España, actual campeón mundial y hoy continuó la racha nuevamente ante los polacos.

Con la clasificación asegurada el equipo israelí completará su participación en el torneo ante rumanos y españoles en febrero de 2021. Recién en septiembre de 2022 se encontrarán los 24 mejores exponentes del básquetbol europeo, en una competencia con sedes repartidas en cuatro países: Alemania, Italia, Georgia y República Checa.
Será la 14° edición consecutiva del Campeonato Europeo de Baloncesto que organiza la FIBA que contará con la participación israelí.

El mejor papel de Israel en el torneo fue el subcampeonato en 1979, luego de caer en la final en manos de la Unión Soviética.
