Desde hoy, los extranjeros no podrán ingresar a Israel. Mientras que, los israelíes o residentes con permisos especiales que retornen al país, serán trasladados a hoteles, donde deberán pasar dos semanas de cuarentena obligatoria.
Tras la nueva cepa de Coronavirus en el Reino Unido, el gobierno implementó estas medidas para impedir la expansión en Israel.
En primera instancia, se prohibió la entrada al país desde Inglaterra, Dinamarca y Sudáfrica, en los que se había detectado la cepa.
Desde las 22:00 HS, se ponen las mismas condiciones para todos los países. Israel ya no divide los países del mundo entre «rojos» y «verdes», con diferentes condiciones y cuarentenas, sino que a partir de ahora considera a todos «rojos» y limita severamente la entrada.
Por su parte, la cuarentena para los ciudadanos israelíes se podrá acortar a diez días si demuestran dos pruebas PCR negativas. Ambas, separadas por al menos 24 horas y que se tendrán que hacer en centros donde puedan llegar y practicarla sin salir de sus vehículos.
El Ministerio de Salud anunció hoy que ayer se detectaron más de 3.200 nuevas infecciones, un número algo más bajo que las 3.500 del día anterior.

Esta tarde, se reunirá el Gabinete del Coronavirus, donde Salud tratará de sacar adelante un tercer confinamiento inmediato de tres semanas. Podría incluir el cierre de colegios y comercios y la restricción de movimiento en un radio de un kilómetro del hogar.

El titular de Salud, Yuli Edelstein, aseguró ayer que el país está en plena tercera ola del virus e instó al Gobierno a actuar de inmediato.

Tanto Netanyahu, como su principal socio en la coalición, Benny Gantz, estarían de acuerdo en la necesidad de un nuevo confinamiento. Pese a esto, difieren en la fecha de comienzo y los plazos, según los reportes.

En estos momentos, Israel, con unos nueve millones de habitantes, tiene cerca de 30.000 casos activos del virus. Con quinientos (medio millar) enfermos ingresados en estado grave, 118 de ellos conectados a respiradores. Desde el comienzo de la pandemia en marzo, han fallecido por COVID-19 un total de 3.136 personas en el país.
