Se estima que unos 3.500 sobrevivientes del Holocausto contrajeron el virus, lo que significa que la tasa de mortalidad fue del 17%. Tan sólo un poco más alta que la tasa de muerte (16%) observada en la población general del mismo grupo de edad.
Por el momento, la cifra de muertes por coronavirus en Israel es de 4.493, en un total de 610.760 casos acumulados.
Las agencias estatales israelíes definen como sobrevivientes del Holocausto a cualquier persona que estuvo “expuesta” al régimen nazi, incluidos aquellos que vivieron en países conquistados por la Alemania nazi o bajo su influencia directa entre 1933-1945, así como los refugiados que huyeron de esas áreas debido a los nazis.
