La terapia israelí contra el ACV recibió la designación de Dispositivo innovador por parte de la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de los EE. UU. (FDA), anunció la empresa Brainq la semana pasada. La terapia de apoplejía de inteligencia artificial israelí BrainQ, reduce la discapacidad después de los accidentes cerebrovasculares.

La designación permitirá a BrainQ trabajar con la FDA para acelerar el proceso de desarrollo y autorización del dispositivo de BrainQ.

A su vez, entre el 50 y el 70% de los que sufren un accidente cerebrovascular experimentan una discapacidad crónica como consecuencia de estos eventos, según BrainQ. La terapia de campo electromagnético impulsada por IA de BrainQ tiene como objetivo reducir la discapacidad causada por un accidente cerebrovascular a través de una terapia no invasiva.

Asimismo, la terapia de BrainQ está diseñada para tratar a pacientes en las semanas y meses posteriores a un ACV. Las intervenciones aprobadas actualmente para reducir la discapacidad después de un accidente cerebrovascular solo son relevantes en las primeras horas posteriores al accidente cerebrovascular. Solo el 5% de las víctimas de un accidente cerebrovascular llegan al hospital a tiempo para beneficiarse de ellas, según BrainQ, cuya terapia tiene como objetivo llenar este vacío.

La designación de la FDA como un dispositivo innovador se otorga a los tratamientos que pueden «proporcionar un tratamiento o diagnóstico más eficaz de enfermedades o afecciones humanas que amenazan la vida o que debilitan irreversiblemente».

La terapia de BrainQ se basa en conocimientos biológicos de ondas cerebrales. Utiliza algoritmos de aprendizaje automático que se traducen en campos electromagnéticos de baja intensidad sintonizados en frecuencia. También, la terapia se administra a través de un dispositivo portátil que está conectado a la nube. Está diseñado para que sea un tratamiento portátil que se pueda utilizar en el hogar del paciente.

“El accidente cerebrovascular es una condición debilitante con opciones de recuperación limitadas. Esto crea una gran necesidad insatisfecha”, dijo el CEO y cofundador de BrainQ,Yotam Drechsler, ante la nueva terapia israelí contra el ACV.
