Un judío religioso hospitalizado con coronavirus en el Centro Médico Ha’emek en el norte de Israel dijo sus últimas oraciones con la ayuda de un enfermero musulmán a su lado.

Maheer Ibrahim, enfermero musulmán de un hospital en el norte de Israel, vio que la familia de su paciente estaba atrapada en una tormenta de nieve y recitó la oración «Shemá Israel» con él. «Esto era lo que había que hacer por él».

El paciente había estado esperando a que su familia llegara a su lado, pero debido a la tormenta de nieve, su familia quedó atrapada en los atascos.

Maheer Ibrahim, el jefe de enfermería en la sala de coronavirus de Ha’emek, decidió tomar la iniciativa y leer la oración «Shema Yisrael» junto con el paciente, ayudándolo en sus últimos momentos.

En una conversación con 103 FM Radio , Ibrahim señaló: «Puede sonar conmovedor, pero pensé que esto era lo que había que hacer por él».

«Su familia estaba haciendo el largo viaje desde el área de Netanya a Afula. Todo el tiempo oramos para que pudieran lograrlo y estar con él en sus momentos finales. Desafortunadamente, la muerte llegó antes que ellos, porque estaban atrapados».

“En mi experiencia, en mi trabajo en el hospital, he sido testigo de muchas situaciones en las que están a punto de morir personas de todas las religiones. Y sé que para mucha gente esa última oración, al menos, es realmente importante para ellos», dijo. También, contó ue tomó dos cursos sobre judaísmo cuando estudiaba su maestría en la Universidad Ben Gurion.

«Me paré junto a su cabeza y dije Shemá Israel con él. Cuando llegó su hija, cuando ella llegó, ya era muy tarde y él ya había muerto. Cuando los médicos le dijeron que había muerto, sentí que ella sentía que algo faltaba y tenía que decírselo. Entonces le dije: ‘Escucha, no sé si fue aceptado o no, porque yo soy musulmán y él es judío, pero quiero decirte que dije esto, y tal vez te haga bien. Así que debes saber que estas son las últimas palabras que escuchó. Si es que escuchó algo, no lo sé, y estas son las palabras que yo le dije».

«Su hija me llamó el día después de su muerte y me manifestó que mi acto era lo único que la consolaba», añadió.

«Me reconfortó saber que le hizo bien a ella», concluyó, señalando que había visto lágrimas en sus ojos después de contarle lo sucedido. «Necesitamos estar allí como personas, antes de estar allí como proveedores de atención médica».
