Ehud Fogel, 36 años; su esposa Ruth, 35; y sus tres hijos Yoav, de 11 años; Elad, 4; y Hadas, de tres meses, fueron asesinados por los terroristas adolescentes Hakim Awad y Amjad Awad. Este hecho ocurrió el 11 de marzo de 2011 en su casa, en el asentamiento de Itamar en Cisjordania.

A su vez, las circunstancias de los asesinatos fueron tan atroces que los condenaron en todo el mundo, incluso por la propia Autoridad Palestina. Una encuesta reveló que dos tercios de los palestinos se opusieron al ataque.

Además, los Awad han estado cumpliendo cadenas perpetuas en cárceles israelíes desde su condena.

Según Palestina Media Watch, los Awads han estado recibiendo 1.203 dólares por mes bajo lo que llama la política de «pagar para matar» de la Autoridad Palestina. Esa política otorga salarios a los terroristas encarcelados y sus familias.

En tanto, los Awads recibirán un aumento del 50%, afirmó el grupo. Asciende a  1.806 dólares para cada uno de los asesinos de la familia Fogel. Desde el encarcelamiento, han recibido hasta ahora más de 100 mil dólares cada uno.
