Los soldados israelíes votan por anticipado en las elecciones nacionales

Los soldados israelíes comenzaron hoy a votar por anticipado en las elecciones nacionales del próximo martes 23 de marzo. Esto se debe ante un recuento que se cree será lento por las dificultades de la pandemia para los electores en cuarentena o contagiados.

De esta manera, los miembros de las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI) se suman a los diplomáticos israelíes que comenzaron a emitir su voto en sus respectivas embajadas y consulados hace una semana.

Asimismo, hubo 335 urnas distribuidas hoy en bases militares de todo el país. Acudieron voluntariamente aquellos soldados que quisieron votar de manera anticipada.

Además, esta opción surgió a petición del Comité Central Electoral y con el objetivo de facilitar el recuento de votos. Especialmente, de aquellos que no se emiten en los colegios electorales y que requieren más tiempo, ya que deben ser trasladados al Parlamento israelí (Knéset) antes de ser contabilizados.

En estas elecciones se prevé que esos votos, conocidos en Israel como «de doble sobre», se tripliquen respecto a los registrados en los últimos comicios. Dado que no provienen solo de embajadas, bases militares, cárceles y hospitales, sino también de aquellos israelíes que se encuentren en cuarentena o tengan coronavirus.

También, los aislados o contagiados votarán en carpas aisladas. Están diseñadas especialmente para la ocasión y el personal contará con equipos protectores especiales para evitar contagios.

Entre los soldados, sin embargo, serán muchos menos los que deban votar bajo esta modalidad. Se debe a que los soldados israelíes superaron la semana pasada el 80% de vacunados o recuperados de covid-19. Convirtiéndose así en la primera institución en alcanzar la inmunidad colectiva (inmunidad de rebaño), según informó un portavoz militar.
