Este jueves falleció el periodista deportivo, relator y comunicador uruguayo, Alberto Sonsol Z’L, a los 63 años, a causa de COVID-19.
Con casi cuatro décadas de carrera, Sonsol era una de las caras y voces más reconocidas del periodismo deportivo uruguayo. Su hijo Alejandro lo anunció en las redes.

Cuando se enfrentaron Nacional de Montevideo (Uruguay) y San Lorenzo de Almagro (Argentina) por el partido revancha por los octavos de final de la Copa Sudamericana. En el partido de ida, el equipo argentino había ganado 3 a 1. En el de vuelta, el local ganaba 2 a 0 ( y clasificaba por hacer valer el gol de visitante); faltaban pocos minutos cuando sucedió esta jugada en la que San Lorenzo casi empata y el local se salvó «de milagro».
¡Baruj Hashem, Baruj atá Adonai! ¡Ya pasó Iom Kipur!… ¡como se salvó Nacional! gritó el relator. Baruj Hashem significa “Bendito sea el nombre de Él” y se utiliza para agradecer alguna buena acción.
Actualmente, Alberto Sonsol era el relator principal de las transmisiones del fútbol uruguayo para la empresa Tenfield, y durante muchos años estuvo al frente de los partidos de la Liga Uruguaya de Básquetbol.
Hace 7 años sufrió un desafortunado insulto por parte del presidente del club Peñarol Juan Damiani cuando al finalizar una entrevista dijo que Sansol era «un judío de mierda», creyendo que se había cortado la comunicación.

Trabajaba también en Canal 10, donde conducía la sección deportiva de Subrayado, además de participar de otros programas de interés general y entretenimientos, y también era el conductor de “La Hora de los Deportes” en el canal estatal desde hace muchos años.
A su vez, trabajaba en radio El Espectador, en los programas “Tuya y mía” y “Bien igual”.
