El Centro de Investigación e Información Antisemitismo de Berlín (RIAS) reveló que en Berlín, en 2020, hubo más de 1000 ataques antisemitas.
Según un informe, RIAS registró 1.004 hechos en la capital alemana el año pasado, 118 más que en 2019.
Es decir, la cantidad de ataques antisemitas documentados en Berlín aumentó en un 13% con respecto a 2019, a pesar de los múltiples bloqueos de COVID-19 de la ciudad que mantuvieron a la gente en casa.
Además, el organismo pudo determinar un motivo en el 49% de los casos que registró en 2020. De esa porción, el 27% fue atribuible a la extrema derecha. Casi el 9% se clasificaron como conectados a una teoría de la conspiración. El antisemitismo y los incidentes islamistas relacionados con Israel representaron más del 7% de los casos y otro 3% fue «político».
En un incidente del 22 de diciembre, por ejemplo, la ventana de la casa de un rabino fue destruida. En otro, en Navidad, los perpetradores rociaron Maguen David en casas residenciales, algunas de ellas propiedad de judíos. También escribieron la palabra «Israel» en algunos de los apartamentos.

Las teorías de conspiración que colocan a los judíos como parte de la causa de la pandemia COVID-19 circularon entre grupos marginales antisemitas y otros grupos anti-encierro en Alemania y en otros lugares. Se vieron carteles antisemitas en los mítines antibloqueo en Berlín.
De los incidentes registrados por RIAS, 17 fueron agresiones físicas, en comparación con los 33 incidentes de esa categoría de 2019. Pero el número de casos de vandalismo antisemita aumentó de 28 en 2019 a 43 el año pasado.
También en 2020 se informaron de 770 casos de insultos verbales en comparación con 648 casos en 2019. Los correos electrónicos antisemitas también aumentaron de 103 a 123.
