Un equipo senior de profesionales del Centro Médico de la Universidad de Hadassah partió el viernes por la mañana hacia la Argentina. Un país que está en una etapa muy crítica, afectado por el coronavirus. La delegación arriba para discutir la posibilidad de llevar a cabo un estudio clínico de fase III de la vacuna COVID-19 de Israel.

La vacuna candidata de Israel, BriLife, se encuentra actualmente en medio de su ensayo de fase II. Debido a que la mayoría de los israelíes están vacunados, el país necesitará realizar un ensayo de Fase III más grande de alrededor de 30.000 personas en el extranjero.

La delegación es encabezada por el profesor Yoram Weiss, director del hospital Hadassah Ein Kerem. Se reunirá con altos funcionarios del gobierno y brindará conocimientos médicos y apoyo al país en apuros.
La misión comenzó el mismo día en que el Ministerio de Salud anunció que planea solicitar al gobierno que agregue a Argentina a la lista de “países peligrosos”. Desde los cuales los retornados deben entrar en cuarentena, estén vacunados o no.

Si se agrega el país, se unirá a una lista de otros siete países, incluidos Ucrania, Etiopía, Brasil, India, Sudáfrica, México y Turquía. A estos lugares, los israelíes no pueden viajar sin un permiso especial.
La misión de Hadassah a Argentina fue solicitada. Está siendo financiada por el gobierno argentino y se organizó a través de Hadassah International. 
En marzo , el profesor Yossi Caraco de Hadassah, director de la unidad de investigación clínica de Hadassah, dijo a The Jerusalem Post que el hospital había firmado una carta de intención para llevar a cabo al menos parte del ensayo de fase III de la vacuna candidata de Israel en Brasil y que las discusiones eran también en curso con varios países de América del Sur, Europa del Este y África, incluidos Argentina, Panamá y Zambia.
La delegación ayudará al país a iniciar el uso de una «vacuna pasiva» o tratamiento con anticuerpos desarrollado por Hadassah. Otros médicos de alto nivel en la misión incluyen al Dr. Dror Mevorach, quien administró dos de las unidades de coronavirus más ocupadas de Hadassah y desarrolló el innovador tratamiento Allocetra para pacientes en condiciones moderadas a graves, y el Prof.Sigal Sviri , director del departamento de cuidados intensivos médicos. También dirigió la unidad de cuidados intensivos COVID-19 en el hospital.
Se espera que los médicos y otro personal médico se reúnan con el presidente Alberto Fernández, el canciller Felipe Sola y la ministra de Salud, Carla Vizzotti. 
«Así como fuimos los primeros en Israel en la batalla contra el coronavirus, enriqueceremos al gobierno argentino con el conocimiento y la experiencia y la innovación israelí para ayudarlos a enfrentar un brote alarmante y generalizado», dijo el director de Hadassah, el profesor Zeev Rotstein. 
El viernes, el Ministerio de Salud también advirtió a los ciudadanos que no viajen a Seychelles, Georgia, Moldavia, Maldivas, Filipinas, Francia, Costa Rica, Chipre, Rusia y Tailandia. Todos países con altos niveles de infección, aunque no se han implementado restricciones formales.
