El nuevo gobierno de coalición liderado por el primer ministro electo Naftali Bennett ha obtenido el respaldo de la Knesset, allanando el camino para el nuevo gobierno el domingo por la noche

Bennett se convirtió el domingo por la noche en el decimotercer primer ministro de Israel, poniendo fin a los más de 12 años consecutivos de Benjamín Netanyahu en el poder.

Sesenta diputados votaron a favor del nuevo gobierno, mientras que 59 legisladores votaron en contra. Si bien el gobierno está compuesto por 61 MK, una mayoría absoluta en la Knesset de 120 miembros, el MK Said al-Harumi (Lista Árabe Unida/Ra’am) se abstuvo en la votación.

Poco después del recuento de los votos en la Knesset, Bennett prestó juramento como primer ministro, y Yair Lapid lo hizo como primer ministro suplente. Lapid deberá rotar como primer ministro dentro de dos años.

La Knesset votó el domingo por la noche para elegir a Mickey Levy, de Yesh Atid, como presidente de la 24ª Knesset.

Sesenta y siete diputados votaron por Levy, que representa a la coalición entrante, mientras que 52 diputados votaron por Yaakov Margi, de Shas.

Levy sustituirá a Yariv Levin (Likud), que fue elegido Presidente de la Knesset en 2020 para la 23ª Knesset, después de que su predecesor, Yuli Edelstein (Likud), fuera designado ministro de Sanidad.
