El Gran Rabino de la comunidad judía argentina, Gabriel Davidovich, estuvo presente en el acto que se realizó esta mañana en Plaza de Mayo junto al Jefe de Gobierno de la Ciudad, Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, funcionarios y representantes de diferentes credos, en homenaje al «Olivo de la Paz», el árbol que plantó hace 21 años el entonces arzobispo Jorge Bergoglio.

«Es un árbol de Paz y de unión entre todos los pueblos», le dijo a Vis á Vis el Gran Rabino Davidovich

Casi un año antes de que el 21 de febrero de 2001 fuera nombrado cardenal, el entonces arzobispo Bergoglio encabezó el 29 de marzo de 2000 una ceremonia con representantes protestantes, judíos e islámicos, de frente a unos 600 abanderados de escuelas católicas, privadas laicas y estatales.

«No queremos una paz de estanque, una paz que no se mueva. En última instancia acuérdense de que el agua estancada es la primera que se corrompe». Así planteó Bergoglio antes de agarrar una pala y dejar plantado el árbol.  El mismo aún se mantiene de frente a la Catedral Metropolitana de Buenos Aires, cerca de la esquina noroeste de la tradicional plaza porteña.

Ya como Papa, desde su elección en 2013, Francisco siguió apostando al olivo como símbolo de paz. Está presente en uno de los medallones que regala a los mandatarios que lo visitan en la biblioteca del Palacio Apostólico. En 2014 llegó a plantar uno en el Vaticano con los presidentes de Israel y de Palestina como símbolo de paz.

Además del Jefe de Gobierno, también estuvieron presentes, Clara Muzzio, Ministra de espacio público e higiene urbana de Caba, Federico Pugliese, Director general de entidades y Cultos y  el Cardenal Mario Poli Arzobispo de Buenos Aires junto a los representantes de credos.
