Kosher Arabia es la empresa de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos (EAU) que desde principios de este 2021 está proveyendo, con normas kosher, comida judía en el país del Golfo.
En instalaciones de 900 metros cuadrados, un ejército de chefs calificados utilizan las tecnologías más avanzadas para preparar hasta 2.000 comidas kosher por turno. Supervisadas por autoridades rabínicas.
La compañía comenzó a gestarse en setiembre del 2020, el mismo mes en que se firmaron, en Washington, los Acuerdos de Abraham que normalizaron las relaciones diplomáticas y económicas entre Israel, por un lado, y los EAU y Bahrein, por el otro.
Fue en aquel momento que Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC), una de las operaciones más grandes del mundo en su tipo, firmó un memorando de entendimiento con CCL Holdings, fundada por Ross Kriel, uno de los principales dirigentes de la comunidad judía de los EAU.
El memorando resultó en una joint-venture, Kosher Arabia, que se instaló en el complejo de EKFC en el Dubai World Central (DWC). Para producir los alimentos adecuados al régimen de comidas judío, una necesidad que despegó tras la firma de los acuerdos entre Israel y los Emiratos.
Ahora, «el experimentado equipo culinario de EKFC se encarga de toda la producción de alimentos. CCL Holdings proporciona certificación y supervisión de producción, incluido el apoyo para el desarrollo del menú y la compra de alimentos», explicó Matt Rickard, el director general de Kosher Arabia.
Entrevistado por Israel Económico, Rickard destacó que Kosher Arabia está certificada por la división Kashrut de la Unión Ortodoxa (OU), que trabaja en asociación con la Unión Sudafricana de Sinagogas Ortodoxas «para proporcionar el más alto nivel de excelencia» a las comidas de la empresa.

En todo caso, con los Acuerdos de Abraham, «esperamos ver un aumento considerable en el número de turistas judíos que visitan los EAU», reconoció.

«Sin embargo, el servicio de catering y comida kosher es nuevo y solo existe desde el 2019″, indicó Rickard.
