Puede definirse al programa “Hakalá” como una respuesta comunitaria que pusieron en marcha la AMIA, desde su Departamento de Programas Sociales y el Vaad Hajinuj, junto con el American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee y las escuelas que conforman la Federación de Escuelas Judías Argentinas (FEJA). Una vía de contención y ayuda socio-económica para los cientos de hogares castigados por la emergencia sanitaria en nuestro país, principalmente aquellos conformados por niños y niñas en edad escolar que asisten a la Red Escolar Judía.
El programa “Hakalá” (palabra que en hebreo significa “Alivio”) consta de un subsidio económico mensual delimitado por un período de ocho meses. Comprendidos de mayo a diciembre de 2021, que acompaña y sostiene hoy a más de 450 familias.
Esta iniciativa se asienta sobre las bases del trabajo en red y mancomunado de las tres instituciones centrales. Además se enmarca dentro de la respuesta comunitaria impulsada frente a la pandemia de COVID-19.
Su elaboración fue posible gracias a los esfuerzos que se articularon para diseñar e implementar un programa social que brindase respuestas concretas. También proporcione asistencia directa a cientos de familias con necesidades económicas impostergables.
“Este tiempo tan complejo desafía y obliga a las instituciones comunitarias a reforzar su compromiso social. Además de encontrar nuevas formas de desarrollar y poner en acción soluciones para aliviar las necesidades de las personas más afectadas por la crisis”. Así lo sostuvo Ariel Eichbaum, presidente de AMIA. “Este programa es un ejemplo del trabajo en red que podemos realizar en pos de garantizar derechos esenciales y ofrecer respuestas concretas a quienes hoy más las necesitan”, agregó.

En tal sentido, Sergio Widder, director regional para Latinoamérica y El Caribe del Joint (JDC), remarcó: “Gracias a este trabajo colaborativo brindamos alivio a familias que quizás de otro modo no se hubieran acercado a pedir ayuda. Este programa es una muestra más del valor de sumar y articular esfuerzos, una modalidad que siempre promovemos y estimulamos desde el Joint.”
Por su parte, Gabriel Rojchman, presidente de FEJA, señaló: “Es imperioso destacar la labor fundamental de las escuelas como un espacio privilegiado de detección de situaciones de vulnerabilidad que deben ser atendidas con urgencia. Aún más en este contexto de pandemia, sirviendo de puente entre las familias y las instituciones de ayuda social. Sin duda, la pertenencia de los niños y niñas a la Red Escolar Judía es vital. No sólo para dar contención y acompañamiento. También respuesta en momentos tan difíciles como los que estamos atravesando y que sigan asistiendo a su escuela, a su comunidad.”

El impacto del programa ya puede medirse por las respuestas positivas y de agradecimiento que las instituciones promotoras de “Hakalá” reciben a diario. En la misma reflejan la importancia del trabajo conjunto realizado, en pos de brindar ayuda social temprana dentro del marco comunitario.
“Un año muy difícil, mudanza, deudas, tarjetas sin poder pagar, créditos y más créditos, preocupación, tratar de pensar que va a mejorar, no saber más que gasto sacar (…). Y justo en el medio de todo ese caos, recibir un llamado que con mucho cariño nos comentan de una ayuda para aliviar la economía familiar. El llamado ese día hizo mucho más de lo que ustedes puedan imaginar. Agradecemos muchísimo el esfuerzo que hacen para brindar este apoyo y no soltarnos la mano”. “Es más que un alivio. Gracias infinitas al Shule y a AMIA por tan grande y certera dedicación a familias que realmente lo necesitan”.
Los impulsores del programa concluyeron que “la detección temprana y evaluación que cada escuela participante hizo del conjunto de hogares de su comunidad educativa fue esencial para que las más de 450 familias hoy se encuentren recibiendo el apoyo necesario.”
