El 11 de setiembre, se conmemora el Día de Cataluña: «La Diada», se realizan distintos actos, y en uno de ellos, cuando la periodista y escritora Pilar Rahola estaba por brindar una conferencia en un Centro Cultural de la ciudad, un grupo de activistas propalestinos ingresó al lugar e impidió que pudiera continuar ante la indignación de los organizadores y los presentes.
Lo llamativo del escrache es que los activistas cantaban consignas propalestinas pero portaban banderas de la antigua Unión Soviética. Gritaban que iban a impedir que Pilar Rahola siga brindando conferencias por su apoyo a Israel.
Rahola expresó que: «entraron gritando a favor de Palestina, acusándome de “asesina de palestinos” y con banderas de la la vieja URSS.
Tuvo que venir la policía». «Aunque esto se ponga complicado, aguantaremos» enfatizó la brillante periodista y escritora.
Finalmente el acto se pudo realizar cuando desalojaron a los activistas.

La Diada del 11 de Septiembre es la fiesta nacional de Catalunya. A pesar de conmemorar la fecha de una derrota –la capitulación de Barcelona ante las tropas borbónicas en 1714-, la celebración se convirtió en una jornada de defensa de los derechos y las libertades del país. En un acto de reafirmación del carácter propio de Catalunya y de su identidad como nación.
La Diada e el símbolo habitual del inicio del curso político. La festividad ha adquirido aún más protagonismo a partir de las multitudinarias movilizaciones independentistas que se suceden desde el 2012.
