Con una importante presencia de autoridades, referentes comunitarios y religiosos, e integrantes de la Comisión Directiva de la institución, AMIA realizó hoy el acto inaugural de las obras que renovarán y modernizarán por completo su sede ubicada en la calle Loyola 1139, con el objetivo de poder brindar una mejor atención de los servicios de sepelios que allí se prestan, y ofrecer a las familias un ámbito de mayor comodidad y recogimiento al momento de despedir a sus seres queridos.
Diseñado sobre la base de criterios arquitectónicos modernos y sustentables, el proyecto apunta a “custodiar la misión que la AMIA vino a realizar hace 127 años, que es dar sepultura judía con el máximo de los respetos, con el máximo de los honores, con el máximo de lo que podemos hacer para acompañar a las familias en un momento tan doloroso”, aseguró Ariel Eichbaum, presidente de AMIA, al hacer uso de la palabra.
“Esta institución, que hoy tiene tanto alcance, tantos programas, que brinda tanta cobertura social, como fue tan notorio durante este año y medio de pandemia y de crisis, se construyó alrededor del hecho de dar sepultura judía, de dar los últimos respetos, de dar la sepultura que corresponde a la comunidad judía”, recordó Eichbaum, quien hizo especial hincapié en el propósito fundacional de la institución, y en el esfuerzo que los primeros dirigentes realizaron para poder establecer los primeros cementerios comunitarios.
“El que estamos viviendo hoy es un momento trascendente para nuestra comunidad”, definió, por su parte, el secretario general de AMIA, Darío Curiel, quien ofició de presentador del acto. “Después de un gran esfuerzo, tal como fuera votado en la Asamblea del RAT en diciembre pasado, estamos iniciando las obras de remodelación que integrarán la nueva sede de Loyola. Este edificio fue adquirido por AMIA en 1948. Por este lugar pasan miles de personas por año. La última remodelación fue hecha hace 30 años. Queremos brindarle a la comunidad un edificio que esté a la altura de las necesidades”, destacó luego de agradecer la presencia de todos los asistentes.
Curiel también destacó el hecho de que la renovación integral de la sede de Loyola es fruto “del trabajo en pos de la comunidad. Estamos tomando una decisión que va a inaugurar la próxima Comisión Directiva. Esto es mostrar altruismo. Esto se puede dar cuando hay un equipo de trabajo, cuando hay un equipo de profesionales que está al servicio de la comunidad judía, y al servicio de que las cosas salgan bien”, aseveró.
En el acto de inauguración del proyecto, el Gran Rabino Gabriel Davidovich bendijo el inicio de las obras y tuvo una mención destacada para cada uno de los integrantes de la Jevrá Kadishá, “por su trabajo, su tiempo, su dedicación. Sin el esfuerzo de ellos, no sería posible todo esto que estamos realizando”, señaló.
Luego de reflexionar sobre la celebración de Rosh Hashaná, y la conmemoración cercana de Iom Kipur, Davidovich manifestó: “El principio de este nuevo año es también el principio de esta obra. Una obra realmente magnífica, que tuvo muchos promotores y que permitirá cumplir con el principio de dar honor a las personas que se retiran de este mundo”.
Está previsto que el proyecto edilicio se inaugure dentro de poco más de un año. “La nueva obra también estará acorde con el esfuerzo que las familias hacen para contribuir a la comunidad judía cuando compran una sepultura, y acorde con todo lo que nosotros queremos brindar desde la parte humana y espiritual”, concluyó el Ariel Eichbaum.
