Luna Funes tiene 21 años y es hija de la fallecida periodista Débora Pérez Volpin, quien se fue de este mundo a los 50 años, de manera repentina tras realizarse una endoscopía por un dolor estomacal en el Sanatorio La Trinidad de Palermo, el 6 de febrero de 2018. A tres años y ocho meses de la muerte de su madre, la joven celebró esta mañana su bat mitzvá en el templo Comunidad Amijai, ubicado en el barrio de Belgrano. La joven habló con Teleshow y contó cómo vivió la íntima celebración que eligió, además de revelar el rol que ocupó la religión en su vida después del fallecimiento de la diputada porteña.

Aunque la ceremonia judía suele celebrarse a los 12 años, Luna lo hizo a los 21 tras reencontrarse con el judaísmo después de un viaje a Israel. “La decisión de hacer mi bat mitzvá empezó a dar vueltas en mi cabeza a principios de este año, luego de haber visitado el templo para un Shabat, donde justo había unos chicos que estaban haciendo esta celebración, y cuando lo vi me pareció emocionante y la espiritualidad del lugar me encantó”, aseguró la joven en diálogo con este medio.

“La verdad es que me sorprendió mucho porque nunca había visto una ceremonia de ese estilo, es algo que me llamó mucho la atención, así que averigüé si tenían cursos para adultos, y había, pero por cuestiones de pandemia se hacían por Zoom, y fue todo un proceso largo de virtualidad durante varios meses hasta que pudimos darnos la oportunidad de hacerlo presencial”, relató. Cuando finalizó la formación llegó el gran día y lo celebró junto a otras siete personas, en compañía de sus familiares más cercanos: su padre, el camarógrafo Marcelo Funes, y la última pareja de su madre, Enrique Sacco, estuvieron invitados a la ceremonia. También dijo presente la actual compañera de Sacco, María Eugenia Vidal.

Con la emoción a flor de piel, Luna contó que fue la menor de los que celebraron hoy su bat mitzvá en el templo, y que fue una decisión personal que está relacionada con sus vivencias: “Esto también es muy movilizante para mí porque yo lo siento como una conexión con mi mamá, porque cuando fui a Israel a conocer por primera vez el Muro de los Lamentos, sentí como un renacer, una sensación de mucha paz y mucha pureza”. En este sentido, comentó que empezó a identificarse con el judaísmo y encontró en la religión un “plano diferente al de todos los días”, donde logró cultivar la espiritualidad.

“A mis 21 yo me dije: ‘Esto es lo que quiero, esto es lo que me interesa’, así que decidí seguir mi camino y tomar las riendas con respecto a la religión, por cómo me sentía yo con eso, sabiendo que era un tiempo que me dedicaba a mí misma, que me hace bien, y decidí respetar lo que tenía pensado y seguir adelante con mi deseo de hacer este camino en comunidad”, expresó. A unas horas de haber cumplido su deseo, Luna define el momento como “emocionante” y confiesa que se siente orgullosa de poder transmitirle a su familia lo que siente con respecto a los valores bisagra de su vida.

“Me hace feliz a mí, y me hace demostrarles que es una decisión de la que estoy muy segura y sé que va a formar parte por el resto de mi vida”, sentenció con convicción. “El aura de espiritualidad me ayuda a conectarme con cosas que tal vez normalmente uno no las ve o no las siente de esa forma, y me inspira para prestarle atención a otras cosas”, cerró. Además de este reciente evento, la joven tiene varios intereses que cultiva diariamente: su pasión por la música sigue vigente y produce sus propios covers a capella en las redes sociales. También lleva adelante un emprendimiento de pastelería junto a su familia, donde deja fluir su creatividad para preparar delicias caseras.

Hace un tiempo había publicado una interpretación dedicada a su mamá, al ritmo de Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, de Gloria Gaynor: “A la mujer más importante de mi vida, te canto una de tus canciones preferidas”. En aquella ocasión conmovió a todos los usuarios de Instagram, quienes le aseguraron que la periodista que condujo el noticiero Arriba Argentinos (El Trece) y había sido electa diputada porteña un año antes de su muerte, estaría más que orgullosa de la mujer que crío. En cada paso que dan, Luna y su hermano Agustín -también hijo del matrimonio de Marcelo Funes junto a Pérez Volpin- llevan presente a su madre, y ambos se tatuaron en el tobillo la letra “D”, como un homenaje eterno para la mujer que les dio la vida.

Agustín Funes, el hijo mayor de Débora, palpó desde su infancia la pasión que sentía su madre por el periodismo y esa herencia no tardó en hacerse notar: el joven está a un año de recibirse de Comunicador Social en la UBA . A los 22 años debutó como columnista de viajes en De lado a lado, el ciclo conducido por su “papá del corazón”, Quique Sacco, en Radio Del Plata, y actualmente continúa desarrollando su columna de la misma temática en Mucha Radio FM 94.7.

Cuando se cumplieron tres años del fallecimiento de Pérez Volpin, el joven la recordó en una entrevista con este medio y contó una desconocida anécdota: “En 2014, cuando cayó un rayo en un balneario de Villa Gesell y murieron cuatro personas, nosotros estábamos de vacaciones allá (….) Me acuerdo perfectamente que mi mamá estaba inquieta, con el bichito de periodista que, aun estando de vacaciones, no lo podía apagar”. Y continuó: “En un momento me agarra y me dice: ´Vamos’, la miré, yo tenía 16 años, y aunque ya sabía que quería estudiar Comunicación, era chico y le dije: ´¿A dónde? ¿Cómo vamos a meternos ahí?´; y ella me dijo: ´Sí, sí, vamos, hay que ir a preguntarle a la gente qué vio, cómo fue’”.

“Me preguntó: ´¿Vos querés ser periodista? Bueno, entonces vencé ese miedo y vení´, y fuimos. Esa fue la primera vez que la vi desempeñarse como pez en el agua en su profesión. Verla ahí, ejerciendo el periodismo de calle, me quedé fascinado, no solo porque yo quería hacer lo mismo, sino porque estaba viendo a mi mamá en una faceta distinta, como una profesional trabajando de lo que amaba. Transformó un día de vacaciones en un día de trabajo pleno porque le salía del alma, no podía evitarlo, así era ella”, concluyó.

Cabe agregar que en agosto de 2019 se conoció la sentencia de la causa judicial donde se investigó la muerte de la periodista: el endoscopista Diego Bialolenkier fue condenado a tres años de prisión condicional por homicidio culposo, en tanto la anestesista Nélida Puente fue absuelta.En su fallo, el tribunal además fijó una inhabilitación de siete años para el profesional que fue condenado.
