A Big Shtetl, huellas judías en Buenos Aires, es una nueva serie documental que recorre seis emblemáticos barrios porteños para observar las marcas de los diversos judaísmos en la ciudad.

La producción consta de seis capítulos, dedicados a Balvanera, Once, Villa Crespo, La Boca/ Barracas, Flores y Belgrano/Palermo. El primer episodio podrá verse por Canal Encuentro en calidad de estreno, este jueves 18 de agosto a las 19.30. Los recorridos tendrán la voz de distintos invitados, cada uno con una profunda unión el barrio.

Personajes como Roberto Moldavsky, Tamara Tenenbaum, Miriam Lewin o Sebastián Wainraich se cruzarán con otros como el filósofo Emmanuel Taub, o la rabina Karina Finkielsztein. para dar sus impresiones sobre la evolución de la vida de los judíos en la Argentina.

“Este programa nace a raíz de haber ganado un concurso que contaba con recursos públicos, y que por eso saldrá por un canal de esas características. Originalmente era un proyecto que tenía otra idea, y que en nada se parecía a lo que terminó siendo finalmente. Recuerdo que se quería hablar de Ben Molar, el célebre productor discográfico de los años sesenta en la Argentina, pero a mí me pareció que teníamos que buscar otra cosa en referencia a las raices judías”, afirma Exequiel Siddig, coguionista y entrevistador de la docuserie.

“No tenía que ser un programa en blanco y negro, sino más bien tratar de llegar a los pibes de quince años, a los chicos de treinta y dos y a los viejos de noventa. De esa forma, fuimos avanzando hasta el formato que pronto se podrá ver en pantalla, donde se da cuenta de los diferentes tipos de judaísmo que existen en Argentina”.

Los registros de los diferentes barrios de Buenos Aires, donde desde el siglo pasado vive la comunidad judía, ofrece una mirada distinta para conocer esa diversidad  de la que bien habla Siddig; “La elección de los barrios no fue nada difícil, porque están bien marcados; Villa Crespo es el país de los judíos que llegaron desde Europa Oriental.

Al Once llegaron mis abuelos paternos sefaradíes, que venían de Medio Oriente. En la Boca hay una gran comunidad judía, algo que poca gente conoce, con un gran templo, inclusive.

Belgrano es un gran barrio de la movilización social de los años sesenta en adelante, que ubicó a judíos nacidos en la pobreza que con trabajo pudieron comprar un departamento en ese lugar. Y luego está la zona del templo, donde está el Teatro Colón, y donde nace la institucionalidad judía. El paseo por cada uno de esos barrios nos ofrece un gran panorama geográfico del judaísmo en esta zona de la Argentina”.

Figuras del espectáculo, lo académico o de la gastronomía se cruzan en A Big Shtetl, para entender la presencia e influencia judía en una gran urbe como Buenos Aires. “Mirá, un tipo como Moldavsky está indefectiblemente unido a un localcito donde vamos los judios árabes y no árabes también.

Es cierto que la temática fue retratada ampliamente por la televisión o series de ficción, donde se da cuenta de aspectos que tienden a caracterizar al judaísmo a partir de muy pocos rasgos. Sin embargo, en el caso de A Big Shtetl , lo que los productores buscaron como eje central fue exhibir la heterogeneidad del judaísmo en su conjunto. “A mí me conmovía una gran cosa, algo que finalmente quedó plasmado en el programa, y que se da en referencia a preguntarnos qué es un judío en estos días.

Esa es una pregunta que tiene más de 5 mil años, y que se va transformando con el paso del tiempo, con las diferentes épocas. La idea principal o el objetivo fue salir a mostrar la diversidad judía, los judaísmos existentes. Ojalá en un futuro cercano podamos seguir indagando con una nueva temporada en todas las diferentes aristas que significa ser judío en estos días”; Concluyó Siddig.
